In the video below, we join Mimi from Aunt Mimi’s Place for tours of four rarely-seen vintage RVs given by the four amazing women who own them. The video seems to be filmed at a Sisters on the Fly meetup, so the trailers are decked out to be displayed.
The 4 vintage travel trailers featured:
- 1980 Mity Lite
- 1978 Argosy
- 1974 Shasta Compact
- 1961 Roadmaster
1980 Mity Lite: The video begins with Marilyn and her stunning fiberglass 1980 Mity Lite travel trailer. The trailer’s purple color (my favorite color) makes it an immediate head-turner. Marilyn added the unusual hue when she remodeled the vintage RV.
Because of the lightweight fiberglass body, the trailer only weighs about 900 pounds. Mity Lites were known for their unusual popup roof design, which allowed them to be stored in an ordinary garage.
The inside is basic, and Marilyn is still working on adding features. Nonetheless, it’s cute and comfortable in its current state.
1978 Argosy: Next, we join Phyllis for a look at her 1978 Argosy travel trailer, a lower-priced line briefly manufactured by Airstream and sporting the same iconic body design. Phyllis is all about bright colors, and her Argosy remodel and stylish campsite (glamp site?) joyfully reflect that aesthetic.
1974 Shasta Compact: Barbara gives a tour of “Lil,” her 1974 Compact travel trailer next. As colorful as Phyllis’s rig was, Lil is the opposite, outfitted in basic black and white with rare splashes of red or blue.
1961 Roadmaster: The video concludes with Linda’s 1961 Roadmaster Redmaster travel trailer. When Linda rescued it from the woods and remodeled it from the ground up, it was a hunting cabin. The interior has a colorful, bohemian vibe.
