What we learned about you last week (January 5-11)

By Emily Woodbury

Howdy! Everyone enjoying their January so far? It’s been pretty mild here in western Washington, and we’ve even had a few sunny days (gasp), so I can’t complain too much. If you’re planning a trip to the beautiful Pacific Northwest (or PNW, as we call it) in 2019 and need some advice on what to see/do/eat, shoot me an email at emily (at) rvtravel.com. I’ll send you to the good spots.

Now! Let’s learn about you!

Last Saturday we were curious to know how many RVs you’ve owned in your lifetime. Most of you have owned between two and four, but a substantial 13 percent of you have owned more than six. Woooooooow. I’ll attach the poll to the right here, since, as usual, Chuck went a little crazy with the numbers and it’d take me longer than it’s taking the sun to burst through the thick morning fog to write it all out. …ahem…

Monday’s survey got quite the response! We can’t deny that we’re happy that 59 percent of you would rather spend a little bit more money buying something from your neighborhood store than for a little bit cheaper at Walmart (we like supporting the mom-and-pops too). However, 41 percent of you said you’d rather save the money by shopping at Walmart. Hey, no judgment – gotta do what ya gotta do, right?

On Tuesday we wanted to know if you’d ever damaged a relationship because of an email or social media post. I was scared to load the page and see the answer to this one, but whew, 81 percent of you have not damaged a relationship by either of these things. That’s a relief! For the 19 percent of you who have, all I have to say, er express, is:

Okidokie, on to Wednesday! How comfortable are you being alone for a few days in a row? Interesting results, you introverts! The majority, 55 percent, of you say you’re fine being alone for a few days, and 40 percent of you said you’re fine for a few days, but after that, you yearn for companionship (interesting way to phrase that, survey writer … aka Chuck). A small 4 percent of you say you can only go a few hours being alone, and 1 percent of you say you don’t like being alone period! Reader Diane M. says, “I love my alone time and my husband hates being alone for more than a couple of hours. We’ve had to do a lot of compromising in our 44 years of marriage!” I bet!

Thankfully, 59 percent of you answered Thursday’s survey, “In a wind storm, have you ever worried your RV would blow over?” with “no.” Whew! However, 41 percent of you have worried your RV might blow over. According to the comments, it seems you’re mostly worried about trees or other objects being blown over and damaging your RV, but reader Johnny commented, “70 mph straight-line wind in a rainstorm, pushed our slides in to the point that rain was coming in. Not much fun in Oklahoma that day.” Yikes!

WindI was going to end today with a pun about wind, but the one I came up with blows.

Okay, jokes aside, I did hear about a cheese factory that was destroyed in a tornado a few years ago. It was awful, all that was left was debrie.

Okay, really now, I’m signing off. Have a great week, folks, and I’ll see you again next week.

Oh, also, we’ve put our surveys back in our Daily Tips newsletter so voting will be easier for you. We got lots of complaints about moving it to another page, and you know we don’t like to disappoint you.

Cheers!
