The 2026 Forest River Airelume 255 is designed primarily with couples in mind. That’s what prompted me to take a closer look.
Measuring just under 30 feet long, it seems to have a nice balance between towability and livability. Read on and see what you think.
Behind the walls
The Airelume 255 rides on a powder-coated I-beam frame with cambered chassis construction for added strength. Forest River uses 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove plywood flooring, 3/8-inch roof decking, 5-inch bowed roof rafters, and Tufflex PVC roofing backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
The trailer features reinforced framing above the slide opening, a triple-seal slide system, seamless holding tanks, and an enclosed underbelly. You’ll also find color-coded water lines, roof-mounted solar prep, backup camera prep, and durable, easy-clean cabinetry throughout the coach.
This floor plan includes one large slide-out that significantly opens the living and kitchen area while maintaining a comfortable towing length.

Interior and living space
Stepping inside, the first thing I noticed (ahem) was the window treatments—if they even qualify as such. I appreciate the absence of dark, heavy cornices. However, the Airelume 255’s curtains seem a step too far into the “shabby chic” category—with way too much emphasis on “shabby.” (I don’t consider myself a “window treatment snob,” but really?)
Roy, the salesman I spoke with, seemed anxious to draw my attention away from the curtains. He was especially proud of the coffee bar. It’s positioned right inside the entry door. This gives morning beverages a dedicated workspace instead of competing with meal prep—which is nice.
Personally, I’d rather the space offered a coat closet, but that’s just me. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, you will like the pull-down K-Cup holder and generous counterspace that’s sure to fit your coffee maker and more. Above the counter, the microwave is ready for reheating tea or making hot chocolate.
Moving on… I like the bright and open interior. Large camp side windows flood the cabin with natural light. The neutral décor creates an airy atmosphere, and the slide-out provides generous living space.
Kitchen
The kitchen offers a good layout with ample countertop space for meal prep, especially if you include the coffee bar counter. You’ll notice a three-burner cooktop and 12-volt refrigerator (opposite the stovetop), but you won’t find an oven in this rig. That may be a downside for some RVers.
Additionally, I would find some pleasing artwork to cover over the Airelume trademark on the wall!
Kitchen storage in the Airelume 255 is adequate. I wish there were drawers. Instead, you’ll find several lower cabinets along with generous overhead cabinets to maximize storage space. The high-rise residential-style faucet makes cleanup easier, and I like that the cook can easily see what’s happening outside.
Living/dining space
The single slide helps the living/dining area feel open and comfortable. The flexible Luma Lounge seating component was new to me. This 3-in-1 furniture system can quickly switch to a roomy dinette, a chaise-style movie lounge with a two-person dinette (shown), and an expanded sleeping area for overnight guests. If you want this flexibility, the Airelume 255 provides it.
The living/dining windows are placed higher than in other RVs, which will “allow light to enter the RV while preserving privacy,” according to Roy. (I’m pretty sure that’s what he said. I’ll admit, I was still distracted by the curtains!) You’ll find lots of storage options under the dinette and lounge, which are great. The entertainment center also includes additional hidden storage, though it’s definitely not large enough for a pantry.
Bath
Forest River dedicates the full rear wall to the bath. It features a nice shower, a generous vanity countertop, a medicine cabinet, linen storage, and enough floor space to get ready comfortably.
I appreciate the layout in this larger bathroom; however, the open cabinets seem unfinished to me. I’d prefer drawers or at least cabinet doors.
Note: Because the bathroom sits at the rear and the bedroom is up front, nighttime restroom trips require walking the full length of the trailer.
Bedroom
The front bedroom features a residential queen bed with a nice-sized nightstand and shelf on one side and a more compact nightstand on the other, as well as underbed storage. You’ll find a two-door wardrobe and a larger cabinet that can be outfitted with a washer/dryer. A solid sliding door separates the bedroom from the living area, which I really like. The door makes it easier for one person to sleep while another enjoys the main cabin.
Overall take
Couples looking for a modern travel trailer with residential styling, practical features, and a well-balanced floorplan may want to take a closer look at this RV. The 2026 Forest River Airelume 255’s manageable size makes it easier to tow than many larger couple’s coaches while still offering a comfortable interior. (I just wish I could get past the wonky curtains!)
