If you need to get out of your rig in a hurry and find yourself locked in, it’s not grand. In this case, Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Lineage RVs, equipped with Lippert Modularia entrance doors. The door latch mechanism may fail. Door latch failure may prevent occupants from exiting the vehicle in an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. Some 663 of these rigs are affected by this Grand Design failed lock recall.
Grand Design failed lock remedy
Dealers will install a new retainer clip and install a secondary retainer to the tension rod, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 12, 2025. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design’s number for this recall is M910051.
Background
On May 14, 2025, the company told the lock supplier, Lippert Components, that doors on three RVs on their production line wouldn’t unlock. A look at warranty claims showed at least one RV customer had complained of the same issue. On July 7, Grand Design determined a recall was in order.
The fix will require “an access hole in the side of the door” be made. From there, the original retainer clip will be taken out, and a new one installed in its place. At the same time, a “secondary retainer clip” will be added to the lock tension rod.

Thank you, Russ and Tina, for the news! Seems Lippert and Grand Design are far from “a marriage made in heaven.” First it was the overly flexing frame supplied by Lippert and now it is entrance doors. Yikes! RV on fire and entrance/exit door won’t open?!? Not a pleasant scenario to consider. Meanwhile, have a great day and safe travels!
Access hole?
The Lineage by Grand Design is a motorhome, not a trailer. DS.
Ha! You’re correct, DS.👍 We took the information directly off the NHTSA website, which referred to it as a “trailer” in every instance. I’ll update our post. Thanks! Have a good evening/night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
