The topic of RV beds or mattresses is always a hot topic among RVers. In one RV Service Centers and Repairs report, one reader claimed they thought their RV mattress had been made at a granite quarry—that’s how uncomfortable it was.
While comfort is one thing, size is another major factor when it comes to RV beds. Some RVers are lucky enough to have a residential-size king, while others make do with an RV short queen or even a full-size mattress.
Then there are those with unique setups—split twins, convertible sofas, or Murphy beds that fold down at night and disappear by day. The variety of sleeping arrangements in RVs is almost as wide-ranging as the rigs themselves.
But, anyway, we’re not here today to talk about how comfortable or uncomfortable your RV bed is (but of course, feel free to leave those thoughts in the comments if you wish). We want to know what size your RV bed is. If you have more than one bed in your RV, we want to know what size your main bed is, or the bed you sleep in the most.
If, for some reason, you sleep on your RV’s dinette bed, tell us about that one! If your main RV “bedroom” has two twins, tell us that! If you sleep in your Class C’s overhead “queen” bed and not the main bed in the back, answer for that.
As always, thanks for voting.

Twins, convertible into an “across the width of the RV” king. Twins because our middle of the night body schedules conflict.
Queen. We sleep better in the camper than at home despite the king bed in the sticks & bricks. The joy and peace of camping.
😃
Our ‘King’ is 70″ long x 74″ wide. It’s really more like short Queen.
We put a new full-size queen mattress in our class A when we bought it not knowing there was a difference in RV mattress lengths and I’m glad we did.
You should have differentiated between “queen” and “short queen”. It makes a big difference to some of us.
That was helpful 🙄
I’d be curious to know how many have a short queen like we do. I chose other.

RV Queen – width of a queen, length of a full size.
Removed the RV (short) King as soon as we got home from purchasing and replaced with a regulation sized Queen. Before purchase of the RV we took measurements to verify the space was available.
I answered Other as we have a SHORT Queen. Wish I had the same in the S&B.
We have a ‘short’ queen. I slid the mattress down and added a piece foam a the top. Now it’s as long as a regular queen. The foot of the bed hangs over the base, but we don’t even notice it.
A lot cheaper than replacing the mattress.
In our class C we have a fold up as the bed has to fold up in order to put the slide in. I think it is only a double.
Short queen in our camper.
Our current TT has a short queen. We’re considering one with a full.
I have twin beds that can be converted to a RV King bed. I keep them set up as twins. It’s easier to get in and out of, espeicially at night when you have to get up to pee.
I understand the practical side of twin beds…but we would definitely miss our 35 years of cuddling 🥰
The queen bed is the one thing we dislike the most about our RV. Our next one will definitely have a king bed
We have a regular QUEEN (full length) and it’s our first this size. All previous had Short/RV Queen and we always ended up adding a piece of foam to extend the length as my feet always hung over the end (I’m only 5’10”).
We have a king and it actually seems too wide..we kinda like to sleep a bit closer together. 🫠
Short king in the larger TT. Wish there was an easy way to convert to a short queen AND access the sides of the bed from the floor. Slideroom and underbed storage would still prevent this. The smaller TT has a short queen with side access from the floor. Love it, even if the bed is narrower.
I, too, answered “Other” because all 6 of our trailers over the last 15 years have had a Short Queen mattress. Yes, it is as wide as a Queen, but it is definitely shorter. But it does work for us.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! I have not measured it, and it has rounded corners at the foot, but our manufacturer calls if a “king.” King-sized sheets from the house fit it pretty well. Have a great week and safe travels!
Our last MH came with a King but no side tables so we swapped that out for a Queen with side “tables”…very narrow side tables.
Queen and DO NOT want anything bigger.
I have a short queen. Many small trailers use them. It’s the same width as full queen, 60″, but length is only 74 or 75″. And there is a wall art three too and bottom. I’m 6’0″ and have an Rpod trailer. Unless I press my head against the wall, I have to sleep diagonally and still I can’t stretch my toes out. My dog gets the corner, so she’s happy! Would I get this again? Hmmmmmmmmm… I’m not sure.
…there is a wall at the top and bottom…
Sorry
You forgot the popular “short queen” found in many RVs – it’s 5″ shorter than a real queen. So no good for taller people, sheets rumple immediately, toppers need to be cut down … and on and on. I checked queen because it’s the closest to what we actually have.
I checked King because that’s how it was advertised. 74W x 70L. I buy queen sheets with deep pockets, and they work well.
I have twin beds that can be converted to a RV King bed. We keep them set up as twin beds. It’s easier to get out of bed in the middle of the night to pee. Also, if I want to take a friend camping, it’s nice to have twin beds.
I checked queen but ours is Olympic queen, 66″×80″. Queen sheets are too small and kings are too big.
