Many pet owners allow their pets to sleep in bed with them at night. Come on, you know it’s hard to turn down that begging face!
Is sleeping with your pets a good thing? A bad thing? Is it healthy? If you missed the article on this topic from our RV Pet Vet, Karel Carnohan, DVM, read it here. In it, she explains the benefits and risks of sleeping with a pet.
If you let more than one pet sleep with you, please leave a comment after you vote and tell us how many. We’re curious!

Only in the Coach, can’t keep them out as the bottom of the door is high enough off the floor the cats can shimmy under. No pets at home.
My very Senior cat does. He is in my lap, or in my bed.
I am the only animal in my bed!
I am the only animal in our camper
1 cat
Only during a thunderstorm
Yep!
Our 6 lb Maltese sleeps on DW’s bed(we have a split king) he’s been sleeping with her almost 12 years(5 years before me). I feel fortunate he allows me to sleep next to her.
It appears that we are allowed to sleep in the cat’s bed.
🤣
Love it😹🐾
🤣🤣
Although the numbers vary over the years they all sleep in the bed. Just got a new 9 week old puppy and he’s there too making 4 now. Each has their own go to bed routine and their own spot. It’s a bit tight on the queen on the camper but just fine in the California King at home.
Should include those of us with no pets!
I put sometimes, Cooper sleeps on the bed every night. Sometimes Sweetie does, especially when it’s storming.
We have 2 small dogs who sleep with us. One just turned 16 yrs old yesterday and she has slept with us her whole life.
Two beagles and right up close. And if something passes right by the camper trust me the alarm goes off. And every time they start it’s some drunken camper trying to either find their way back or twice someone thought they were going to take off with my lawn chairs that were cabled secured. The neighabors once complained to me about the barking the wife stated her husband came over to borrow a chair. I looked at him and said you’re that dumb to complain about the dogs barking and you tried to steal my chairs. He said he wasn’t stealing but borrowing. Told him taking without permission is theft which could end up in jail or worse being shot. And in this sick world the later probably happen faster.
Mini doxie and yorky in bed. Great Dane dog bed
We used to let our cats sleep with us, but got tired of the poor quality rest we got from the inability to move freely.
We have a black lab so she is too big for my wife and I to sleep comfortably when she is on the bed. However she will join use on occasion during a thunder storm or fire works and we do allow her to stay with us.
Both my dogs (6yrs old) sleep with me. My 8yr old cat also sleeps in bed with us but never spends all night with us. My dogs are very attached to me typically don’t ever leave my side.
My cats and dog aren’t even allowed in my house, much less my bed! They are working farm animals, though, not pet children.
Our boys weigh about 55 & 65 pounds. Once on the covers I’d have to do without. My husband is a bit of a blanket hog, so with the 3 of them, I wouldn’t stand a chance.
2 Siamese on the bed, dog never allowed.
We travel with two cats and a dog. The cats usually sleep with us but the dog sleeps in her kennel, only because there isn’t enough room in our queen bed for everyone!
We don’t invite them, but the new dog is frequently between us in the morning. The older dog is so gentle that she can get on the bed when we are in it and we won’t notice until we try to move ourselves or the covers. They are both 40+ pounds.
I said “Sometimes” because we put our 15+-year-old dog to sleep two days ago. Until then his separation-anxiety had him in our bed almost nightly for the last 1-2 years. Until then he always slept in his own bed at the foot of ours, never in our bed. Undoubredly this pattern will more or less be followed by his successor (whenever we are able to embrace another dog).
I’m so sorry for your loss, Neal. That’s very hard. Been there, done that, too many times. Take care. 🤗 –Diane
Thank you, Diane! I appreciate your kind words; they DO provide comfort. 🙂
