Say, miraculously, that two beautiful campsites came available at once (we can dream, right?) and you could make a reservation at one. Would you choose the one right on the ocean with beautiful sunset views and the sound of waves crashing outside your window? Or would you take the one that’s in the mountains, where pine trees cast shadows and the sunset turns the tips of the peaks pink?
The ocean spot would mean easy beach access, warm breezes, and plenty of time to watch the waves. Ah… kick off your shoes and enjoy the view.
The mountain site offers cooler air, quiet mornings, and shady spots to relax. You might get some nice hiking in, or just enjoy sitting by the fire and looking up at the stars in the evening.
Both spots would be great in their own way—it just depends on what kind of camping experience you’re in the mood for.
And maybe you like both! But if you haaaaad to pick… which one?
After you vote, feel free to leave a comment. Happy beautiful camping!

I’d rather BOTH.
By a nice lake in the mountains. Having spent 26 years in the surface Navy, I have seen enough of the Oceans of the world.
Same here shipmate. Over 10 years sea time out of 21, it’s a lot as a CT. Constant wind, sea spray, grit blowing into everything, etc.; so over it!
This required no thought, mountains girl all the way. But then I have lived in Montana my whole life so this is a good thing! Our daughters family own a cabin on Flathead Lake & we enjoy a visit there. Still mountains tho.
By “ocean”, I’ll pick the Great Lakes. No salt water to rust out the undercarriage.
And while I truly love the plains, there are times I wish I could drag the Rockies up next to Lake Superior.
Summer and early fall in the mountains all day, everyday.
The Great Lakes is nice but high-priced State Parks Michigan rapes non-residents in the U.P. And then there’s the blood thirsty biting flies and mosquitoes.
Going to try MN’s North Shore but campgrounds are difficult to get, plenty crowded.
Checked ocean, but correct response is YES as in both.
Actually, we like both areas to spend time at. Of late, which ever area one is able to locate a spot and reservations tends to be the “looks like we are headed here.”
It’s the salt water spray, or the sand everywhere.
When you live in Colorado, where but the mountains would be your favorite? But, since Colorado has no ocean, we enjoy seaside RVing and eating fresh seafood, just wouldn’t want to live or snowbird there!
I grew up on the beaches of Southern California in the 50’s …. terrific then. Terrible now. Then lived in a ski resort 50 years. Would still prefer the beach but not in So Cal.
Going back to my family roots mountains win. One of my greatest pleasures in life is sitting in a mountain side campsite as dawn is just starting to appear with a cup of hot coffee and my Bible in my lap greeting a new day. I enjoy watching for the sun to peak over the mountain tops and listening as the birds start their morning songs. And in all of this being filled with the overwhelming presence of God!
Both
In reading the article about the Lippert Thin Shade upgrade kit, will that work in a trailer door with no factory window?
Hi, David. Dustin wrote this in the post: “Plus, the kit is designed to seamlessly replace existing windows and frames or add to doors with no windows, thanks to the template provided.” So, yes, it sounds like it can be added to a trailer door with no factory window. Have a good night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
We live in the Mountains so a trip to the ocean is a welcome diversion!
I ike being by the ocean but being in nature in the mountains is by far my favorite.
Most of our RVing and camping has been in the mountains. If the question is where would you prefer to stay most of the time, it would be the mountains. But at this point in my life, and if it was my next trip, I’d pick the ocean. After a few trips to the ocean, I’d be back in a mountain setting.
