This year, did you decorate your home and/or your RV for the holidays? Just your home? Just your RV? Neither?
Holiday decorating often sparks a sense of creativity and joy, whether you’re adding twinkling lights, festive garlands, or small touches like ornaments and wreaths.
For RVers, the challenge of working with limited space can make decorating even more rewarding. Compact string lights, mini trees, and even magnetic hooks for hanging stockings have become popular choices among travelers wanting to bring the holiday spirit on the road.
For those who decorate only their homes, the focus may be on creating a warm and inviting space for family gatherings or guests. Large trees, outdoor light displays, and personalized touches like handmade ornaments or heirloom decorations often take center stage.
On the flip side, some RVers and homeowners choose to skip the decorations altogether. Whether it’s due to travel plans, a preference for minimalism, or simply the hustle and bustle of the season, opting out can be just as fulfilling.
After you vote, please feel free to comment. Thanks! Oh, and Happy Holidays!!

I voted no because my physical disabilities causes too much pain to get the items unboxed, set up, and then taken down and put away after the holidays. I enjoy looking at other people’s decorations.
I was a Hospice nurse for the last 24 years of my career & would like to give you some tips for dealing w/pain. If you take something like advil or aleve, you can get the effects of 3 pain meds when you have only taken 2. 1. take them with a mug of caffeinated coffee. The amount of caffeine will elevate the painkilling power from 2 to 3. Eat 7 1/2 ounces DARK chocolate. It must be dark, not milk or white. To speed up absorption, take with a carbonated soda or recline on your right side. I hope this helps you.
I’m taking your advice, thanks! I don’t have much pain so I’m just eating the dark chocolate. Sometimes I bump the amount to 8 full ounces! That seems to work no matter what side I recline on!
Just the RV. But Christmas is in the winter and the RV is our winter home.
Our house is located near the snowiest city in the continental US east of the Rockies (according to the NWS – Hancock, MI) – around 26-27 feet of snowfall at the house last winter. Beautiful, but after 30 years of moving said snow, we winter well south of the snowline. 🙂
Agree. After living in a ski resort for 50 years, Arizona is our winter destination now.
I used to go all out at home, but age has crept up on me.
The only decorations now are some wreaths on the doors and pair of antique red light up bells in the front windows. I call them ‘antique’ because they were the first decorations we bought when we got married 55 years ago.
Not this year. It needs to be done after fall clean up. I put it off, then the cold really hit, then a light snow, so I did forgo this years lights. Oh well, things happen.
I voted no as we only put up a tree in the living room, last year and this year we only have the built-in lights that came with the tree as neither of us have the energy to get out the rest of the decorations. Hate getting old, but it is better than the alternatives.
In Arizona for many winters, but still decorate the RV every year. We have an artificial green saguaro cactus all decorated with colored lights.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! Yes! Yes! Yes! DW certainly DOES decorate for Christmas. I would supply pictures if it were possible. Suffice to say that there is much that must be protected from dog #3 because of his need for almost continuous stimulation or chewing. Have a great week, safe travels, and a merry Christmas!
We do not decorate as we leave the RV in Florida and travel to be with grandkids in NC.
Also it’s kind of a protest. I am not happy with how early Christmas stuff appears in stores. By the time Christmas gets here I am sick of looking at it all.
My RV is my traveling home. I use a lot of dollar lights outside, on the camper n around it. I boondock so i camp mostly away from people that prefer darker skies. The holiday only comes once a year, n the lights do make me happy!
We have 2 tabletop silver artificial trees and frankly don’t always put them away. I never let us put up the trees until Jan 6 as there are 12 days in Xmas. When the cats were younger we didn’t put colored balls on the trees, we used extra large jingle bells. Since they are metal there was no danger of breakage. I preferred blue or green balls/bells to go with the silver
Decorate? I define “decorate” as paying someone to put lights up on the eaves of my house and take them down after New Years. So, yes, I “decorated my home”!
