We’ve shown you RV crash tests before, but here’s yet another one that reveals, once again, that recreational vehicles are not made to survive serious accidents. If it were you in this motorhome when it crashed — not crash dummies — we doubt you’d be reading this right now. This footage is especially horrifying because it was captured from about a dozen camera angles.
RV industry publicists never discuss RV accidents: witnessing something like you see here might scare the pee-pee out of some would-be buyers who would never want to chance such a catastrophe.
How many TV commercials have you seen with Mom and the kids playing Go Fish at the dinette table while Dad drives happily along dreaming of the big trout he’ll catch the next morning? After watching this well-documented crash, such parents may have second thoughts.
Be sure to watch until the end of the video, when cameras inside the motorhome show what happens to the rig’s interior when the RV slams head-on into the unmovable object.
The moral of this video and story: Drive carefully and defensively, don’t tailgate, and seriously weigh the risk of carrying passengers in the rear of a motorhome (and never in a towable RV) considering the risks. Yes, that risk is low, we know. But for some victims of such accidents, comforting statistics are far from reassuring.

Forth eight kilometers per hour is just a bit LESS than 30 miles per hour.
Thank you for sharing the video, RV Travel! As Stu notes, 48 kph is about 30 mph, so this is a low-speed crash. Pretty destructive and deadly, huh? Have a great week and safe travels!
