Today’s thought
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” —Anthony Bourdain (1956-2018)

Do “Tire Saver Ramps” prolong the life of RV tires?
Dear Dave,
Do “Tire Saver Ramps” work? I saw that these tire savers ($300 for four) will prevent my travel trailer tires from having flat spots from sitting for a length of time. You place the tire savers underneath each tire. What is your professional opinion? —Robert, 2022 Winnebago Voyage travel trailer Read Dave’s opinion.

Quick tip
Fridge not cooling? It might need this quick fix
Boondockers use LP gas to run their refrigerator, and sometimes this creates a problem. If your RV refrigerator “acts up” and doesn’t seem to be cooling, don’t immediately condemn parts. Check the cooling system “burner” first. Scale can develop in the refrigerator chimney that can come loose and drop down onto the burner, causing it to operate less efficiently, or go out altogether. An RVer pulled into their campsite and immediately had refrigerator problems. They checked the burner and, sure enough, scale had dropped onto it, which he blew off. Problem resolved—for a few days. The same thing happened again. Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts.

Trivia
In 1885, the Statue of Liberty almost didn’t make it to the U.S. because America ran out of money to build its pedestal. To raise funds, newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer used his paper, The New York World, to launch a crowdfunding campaign. More than 120,000 people donated, most contributing less than a dollar. Their collective effort made it possible for Lady Liberty to finally stand tall in New York Harbor!

“Riley (Lab mix), our fur baby, is 14 years young and still loves to camp. Sometimes, he plays a little too much and needs to recharge his batteries. He loves to nap in front of the fireplace and dream of our next trip down the road. I believe he’s dreaming of a Michigan adventure this summer?” —Andrew Kapusta Jr.

Other absorption frig tip – the unit may operate the heat unit with LP or AC, BUT in either case, the control unit is operating off 12vdc. Our converter failed, drained the battery and in spite of being on shore power, the frig was dead. We hooked up a 10a automatic battery charger to the battery and kept as many other 12vdc dependent devices turned off as possible. We were able to save our food until the converter was replaced.

Riley is sooo sweet and precious 🥰🐶
Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 I hope that you and Riley have many more trips together, Andrew! 🙂 I hope the dog whose head is sticking through the siding was safely removed; poor dog. No, never had a Polaroid, but did get the Kodak knockoff one Christmas. Once the lawsuit ended, then there was no more film for it. I think I still have it somewhere. Happy new year and safe travels! 🙂
