If your RV windows need a lift, discover ingenious RV curtain ideas in the video at the bottom of this article from Making My Abode on the Road.
The video shows a variety of RV window coverings that require no sewing. You also won’t have to make any holes or drill into your RV’s walls to hang them, either.
The video shares various innovative curtain solutions, from tension rods and adhesive hooks to decorative sticks-and-bricks curtain rods.
Our hostess, an avid crafter and DIYer, shows how to choose the perfect fabric for your curtains, customize them to fit your RV windows, and install them hassle-free.
She offers options for blackout curtains that provide optimal light control and sheer curtains that will give your space a breezy vibe.
Despite the variety of options, all are easy on the budget, easy to make, and easy to install.
When she started to redo her RV’s windows, she began by removing the boxy valances that initially came with the RV.
I did this with my RV remodel. I have never understood why RV manufacturers insist on putting these in RVs. They add lots of extra weight and serve no purpose. Plus, you won’t believe how much removing them will open up your living space and make it brighter.
Rather than describing all the DIY RV curtain styles, watch the video to discover which ones might fit your RV and your style aesthetic!

Thank you for sharing the video and its main points, Cheri! The boxy valences serve a purpose in some RVs. In our RV they conceal the rollers for the day shades and the night shades. However, if whatever the valences conceal is removed and the valences impede the installation of the replacement, then I easily see the value of removal. Admittedly, many of the RV manufacturers/assemblers don’t seem to employ especially good interior designers. Have a great day and safe travels!
