In the video below, we join The Vancaskeys for a tour of the 2024 Coachmen Cross Trail EV 20XG Xtreme, a Class B+ motorhome with a lot going for it. Coachmen makes several versions of this motorhome, but in the video, we are looking at the EV Extreme version with enhanced electronic and off-road features.
If I were in the market for a Class B motorhome, I have to say, this one would be high on my list.
The tour starts in the bedroom. More aptly, this is a small room that contains a bed as the mattress takes up the entire space. That said, this is a Class B+ motorhome with a fixed bed that does not need to be torn down each day.
The bed automatically raises to reveal the large garage space underneath or lowers for additional space between bed and ceiling. The fact that you can access the storage in the garage area from inside the camper is an awesome feature!
Split bathroom in the Coachmen Cross Trail EV 20XG Xtreme
I love the split bathroom with a large tiled shower on one side and a sink and toilet on the other. The shower is small but functional. Super-large folks may be cramped. The side with the toilet is roomier.
Like many Class B’s, the kitchen sink is too small, in my opinion. The 2-burner Greystone induction cooktop is nice, and there’s a LARGE convection microwave. The refrigerator, for a Class B motorhome, is surprisingly large—a feature I LOVE! Kudos to the large sink and oven, and the large kitchen storage drawers too. Now I just wish they had also made the sink a little larger….
In addition, there is a great propane griddle that comes out of, and stows away into, a drawer on the outside of the motorhome.
The large, comfortable dinette, of course, also makes into a bed.

What’s not to like?
I know for a lot of our readers that the East/West bed packed into the bedroom is going to be a deal breaker. It’s more difficult to make the bed and if the person on the inside needs to use the bathroom during the night, they are going to have to crawl over their partner to do it.
The ceiling fan in the bedroom seems dangerous to me. Someone is going to hit that thing.
I hope the artwork of the bull in the bedroom is something the motorhome’s owners added and that it doesn’t come with the rig.

Yet another poor concept Coachmen cracker box 20 ft. (LOL) Class B (barely +) with no slide, Ford fuel hog gas engine and MSRP of $192,000. WHAT?? in who’s dreams. No sleek, smooth Euro cabinets, just plain, cheap, boxy units??? An elevator bed with storage below that gives you less room to climb in than a truck camper??? OH! pull all that stuff out into the rain if you want to squeeze into bed at a normal bed height. I found dealers asking $120,000 to $165,000 new and one year old units are $75,000 to $90,000. Boy did those folks take a soaking. This must be one of the poorest designed and most outrageously priced Class B ever!!! OH BOY. A sucker is born every minute.
Agree! Would never work for us, at any price.
Tom, I think you’re a bit rough on these folks, even though you are right. 😉
I like the 80″ length of the bed since I am over 6′, but how do two, even small, people sleep in a 51″ wide bed? That’s not even a 54″ wide double bed width! I agree that the MSRP is ridiculous and Coachmen quality is certainly not up to Leisure Travel van standards.
51 inch wide bed, for Americans??? Ekko prices coming down as discounts have returned (a result of competition from Jayco and Entegra?). It’s a much better choice in every way.
Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 What an amazing RV! It is something for which I would have lusted 40 or 50 years ago. I would imagine all the cool places I could take it and then go for a run. I could never have afforded it back then, but I certainly would have dreamed about getting one. This certainly pushes some boundaries and offers a different take on RVs that can go far off road (presuming that raising its ground clearance 2 inches is enough). Thank you, safe travels, and don’t forget that 3:00:00 AM comes immediately after 1:59:59 AM tonight! 🙂
For a small rv it’s okay but that narrow width bed is a no go, and the price is ridiculously high for a small rv with nothing fancy about it.
