The 2027 Airstream Trade Wind 25FB is built for campers who want real off-grid capability in a familiar Airstream shape. Its lithium battery bank, inverter, and rooftop solar package let it do more while unplugged than most travel trailers this size.
It also keeps the layout easy to live with, thanks to a front queen bed, a convertible rear dinette, and strong ventilation throughout.
In the video at the end of this post, we get a tour from Erik Barker at Woodland Airstream.
Off-grid power is the headline feature
The Trade Wind carries 810 amp hours of lithium batteries, 600 watts of solar, and a 3,000-watt inverter. Because of that setup, every outlet works off battery power, and the trailer can run the air conditioner, microwave, TV, and refrigerator without shore power. The main battery disconnect works like an on-and-off switch for the trailer, which keeps day-to-day use simple.
The Victron monitor shows battery percentage, grid input, solar input, and live AC load at a glance. A second charging switch lets owners match charging to a 10-amp household plug or a 30-amp connection. In the walkthrough, the A/C sits around 1,000 watts, while the heat pump draws more, so the propane furnace can be the lighter electrical heating choice.
Interior comfort feels familiar, but smarter
Airstream’s solid entry door, updated lock, and welded detachable screen door set the tone right away. Inside, dimmable LED lights, two-zone JL Audio speakers, a 12-volt smart TV, and a convenient rear locker with new lift supports add everyday usability. The rear dinette also converts into a guest bed. Storage shows up under the seats, in a pull-out drawer, and in deep cabinets.
Front and rear panoramic windows still define the space, and 2027 brings updated window hinges that are easier to set in multiple positions. With the side awning, screen door, Maxxair fan, and revised ceiling vents, the trailer gets strong airflow without giving up shade.
The 25FB layout uses space well
The 8-cubic-foot refrigerator has separate temperature controls and an eco mode. The kitchen keeps Airstream’s practical touches, including pantry pull-outs, lots of drawers, a convection microwave, and a real trash-can space. The sink cover doubles as a cutting board, but it makes more sense stored away during travel.
The bathroom sits over the axles, which helps towing balance and gives the trailer a split bath feel. It also gets Airstream’s newer bathroom window, an on-demand Suburban recirculating water heater, a shower clothesline, and enough standing room for many taller campers. Up front, the walk-around queen bed lifts for storage and adds shelves, hanging space, reading lights, and a privacy curtain.
Exterior details match the off-grid mission
Outside, the Trade Wind gets stainless rock guards, “bulletproof” edge banding, model-specific wheels, 15-inch Wrangler Workhorse tires, and a factory 3-inch lift kit. New 2027 taillights and marker lights use a more solid finish, which should help with the condensation issues older lights could show. Because the batteries sit underneath, the front battery box becomes lockable storage, though it isn’t watertight.
The manual Zip Dee® awning, Starlink-ready Ethernet port, rear bumper storage, and 110-volt outlets on both sides all fit the trailer’s boondocking focus. Owners still need to keep the furnace intake and exhaust clear, and the external solar port feeds the batteries directly rather than adding to the roof array.

Final thoughts

Thank you for the video and summarizing it, Cheri. This is certainly an impressive rig, especially the electrical system. Have a great day and safe travels!
The price says FROM $129,900! How is that justified, just paying for the name and a make believe status symbol? No slides, limited outside storage, and only 850 pounds carrying capacity! At 23 feet 11 inches that computes to over $5000 per foot! Thanks, but no thanks.
