Caught on camera: Helene flooding drags RV over dam

Hurricane Helene has left a tragic toll in its wake. Dozens of RV campgrounds have been severely damaged, some simply wiped out. But putting the flooding damage on a closer level is a video that comes from Virginia. Floodwaters from Helene dragged an RV right over a dam.

RV over dam

Benjamine LaParra was traveling near the town of Fries (“Freeze”), Virginia, as floodwaters blasted down the New River. He was probably astounded as he watched as the New River dragged a travel trailer right over a dam. LaParra says it wasn’t the only RV he saw being carried away.

This section of the New River flows through Grayson County, west of U.S. Interstate 77.

Oh my, that video sure puts the dangers of the flooding in an over whelming perspective.

The RV going over is minor compared to all the other losses of homes, businesses and lives and livelihood taken by the storm.

Neal, just food for thought but your smileys are annoying. Your comments are fine without them and you’re not texting.
