Instead of 1,400 FT-LBS. MAX BREAKAWAY TORQUE. How much foot lbs does it torque a nut or bolt. My weight distribution bolts call to torque the bolts pretty high. Haven’t come across a garage that has an impact wrench that high. Yet a torque wrench.

The description says 1030ftlbs. None of the bolts on the WDH need to be torqued that high. In fact, it can over stress the bolts and possibly cause them to snap going down the road.
Most large truck repair shops will be able to do the final tightening.
The dealer I bought my Equalizer hitch from had the correct torque wrench.

Great tool I’m sure. My problem is when campers use an impact gun to raise and lower their stabilizers. The noise if deafening in the campground.

And a perfect way to destroy the stabilizers and possibly twist the frame. Stabilizers are just that. They are not made to support the weight of the trailer.

Space and weight wise, I have a choice of carrying a cordless drill/driver or an impact wrench. The drill/driver is by far the more useful tool on the road – as noted, a chattering impact wrench can damage scissor jacks (too fast and too jerky). I do have an impact wrench, but it stays home as it is at home where I would get the best use. Remember Dustin is working in a stationary environment and not a rest stop on the interstate.

I have a 1/2″ DeWalt impact wrench and it stays in the tool box in my truck. Like the American Express slogan, “don’t leave home without it”. And thank you Dustin for the “ft-lbs.” That’s what I grew up with and now all the techies want to use “lb-ft”.

I do carry a battery impact wrench only in case I have a flat. Can be used to remove the lug nuts while the tire is in the air.
The lug nuts go back on by hand and the tires lowered to the ground, then a torque wrench. You have to remember, the studs on most vehicles are only 1/2 inch. An impact can snap them in a second or destroy the threads.

Thank you for the testimonial, Dustin. I have one of these that I use around tbe farm, but chiefly to loosen and tighten mower blades when they need changing/sharpening, or change tires on the mower or side-by-side. It is a wonderfully useful tool, especially to not have to trail a power cord or air line around with it. Have a great week and safe travels!
