A pair of teenagers in Evergreen, Colorado, experienced a delightful surprise during their backyard soccer game when a curious elk decided to join in the fun and play along with them. The spontaneous encounter was captured on camera by their mom, Shira Moffatt, who described the scene as both “unexpected” and “incredible.”
“Our kids were playing soccer and accidentally kicked the ball up the hill where the elk were,” Moffatt recounted. “One of the elk got interested and started playing with them. We see elk quite a bit, but they have never played with us before. It was pretty incredible.”
In the video, the elk is seen nudging the ball back and forth with the teenagers for several minutes, clearly intrigued by the unusual opportunity to interact with humans in a playful manner.
