Fall Sangria
by Kitchen Crew from Nashville, TN
Sangria is a wonderful drink; an infinitely adaptable punch to any season. While typically thought of as a summer party cocktail option, the mix of wine, liquor, and fruit is equally enjoyable as the hot days turn cooler in autumn to showcase the fruits of the season. This fall sangria recipe is intentionally kept simple and features that lovely combination of apple and cinnamon. It uses a dry white wine, pairing it with apple juice and a fruity brandy. Apple brandy is the preference, though pear brandy can add extra dimension. Like a sparkling sangria? Simply top each glass with club soda! Click here for the recipe.
Spicy Margarita
by Kitchen Crew from Nashville, TN
Tequila’s a natural pairing for spicy chili peppers, and the margarita is a drink that could use a bit of heat at times. If you like a little spice in your life, then the Spicy Margarita is a cocktail recipe you’ll want to pursue. Pick up at least a mid-range blanco tequila; for an upgrade, this drink is fabulous with an aged reposado. For the orange liqueur, a brandy-based option like Grand Marnier adds richness, but a top-shelf triple sec like Cointreau is nice as well. Fresh lime juice is simply non-negotiable. Make these by the pitcher for a party or just another afternoon on the porch. Click here for the recipe.
Cherry Lime Mojito
by Cara J. Mastrangello from Albany, NY
This mojito will be fantastic at any summer party. It’s slightly sweet, tangy and very refreshing thanks to the fresh mint. You taste the rum in this adult beverage, but it’s not overpowering. A great cocktail for warmer nights. Here’s the recipe.
Hot Toddy
by Myra Bennett from New Columbia, IL
Hot Toddys are an old cold remedy that some people still use today over cough syrup. This toddy is perfect. It’s warm and comforting with just the right portion of ingredients. We used our favorite herbal tea. There was just enough honey to sweeten the tea and coat a sore throat. Lemon adds just the right amount of zest (and Vitamin C we all need when sick). The shot of alcohol isn’t overwhelming or harsh (but it’ll sure help you get some sleep). There are many Hot Toddy recipes out there, but we enjoyed this version. Click here for the recipe.
Colorado Slush
by Bonnie Porter from Deltona, FL
Sweet, slightly fruity, and tropical, this is a refreshing frozen adult beverage. It’s a little on the strong side so add the lemon-lime soda topper to suit your taste. This is perfect for summer BBQs or sipping poolside – a definite crowd-pleaser. The best part… no blender is required. An easy frozen cocktail! Here’s the recipe.
