Unless you’re fueling your diesel rig on the West Coast (but NOT in California), you’ve probably been dismayed at the fuel pump. Diesel prices continue to rise, up a nickel in the fourth consecutive price jump.
Diesel price bad news from EIA
All this news comes from Uncle Sam’s Energy Information Administration. The sad news comes in the agency’s July 8 release.
- A gallon of diesel has climbed 20.7 cents on average since June 10.
- A gallon of many RVer’s fuel now costs 5.9 cents more than at this same time in 2023.
- Nine out of ten U.S. regions saw diesel prices go up. The exception was a 2.1 cent drop in the West Coast less California. The worst jump was 7.4 cents in the Midwest.
- The average price nationally for a gallon of gasoline went up 1 cent to $3.489. Still, it’s 5.7 cents less than it cost at this same time a year ago.

Although all diesel prices are higher, the discounts the card provides cushion the blow. Given our overall length of 56 feet, I exclusively trade at truck stops for RV fuel purchases.
