The Adventure Lodge in Hood River, Oregon, is aptly named. On Monday, November 18, guests got more of an adventure than they probably expected when a Class A motorhome crashed through the motel’s front wall.
Motel motorhome crash preceded by three vehicle run-ins
It was the end of an already memorable adventure for the driver of the 33-foot Safari motorhome. Heading down the street outside the motel, the rig hit two cars and a retaining wall. From there, Erica Mason, of Vancouver, Washington, hung on for dear life as her big motorhome zipped through an intersection in what authorities described as “a high rate of speed.”

To complete the adventure, Mason’s motorhome smashed a parked car in front of the Adventure Lodge, and “lodged” itself in the motel. No word on whether she had reservations for the rooms the motorhome “parked” in.
Erica Mason said the whole thing got started when somebody cut her off. Police are checking into that, and asking anyone with information to call the Hood River police at 541-387-5256.
No doubt guests will be talking about this motel motorhome crash for some time.

Talk about a wake up call —It’ll be interesting to see the followup to this story! Road rage, chase or what was going on in her mind! Interesting to know if drugs or alcohol were involved – doesn’t appear to be – yet. Been easier to believe a brake failure……
Or to believe that her right foot was stuck on the accelerator pedal..
If the sole reason for this incredible amount of crash damage was that someone “cut her off”, then Erica should never be allowed to drive an RV again.
Some lady here smells a bit fishy…..
Graybar Hotel for her, no reservations needed..
do they have a drive through?
I guess they forgot to include a BRAKE pedal in her Safari!
Thank you, Russ and Tina! I wonder how fast she was traveling if being cut off created the described chain of events? Thank you for the story! Have a great day and safe travels!
