The Dyrt, a popular app for camping availability, photos, and reviews, has unveiled its 2024 Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the U.S., presented by the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. These rankings are based on recent reviews and ratings from The Dyrt’s extensive community of campers, highlighting some of America’s most stunning natural wonders and amenities.
Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt, writes, “We’re confident that the dream destinations that made it onto the Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the U.S. list all provide exceptional experiences and lifetime memories. Each is amazing in its own way and deserves to be discovered,” Smith said in a press release.
The top 10 campgrounds for 2024 include:
- “The Wall” in Buffalo Gap National Grasslands, South Dakota
- Saddle Mountain in Kaibab National Forest, Arizona
- Sacred White Shell Mountain, Colorado
- Bay Point Landing, Oregon
- Hidden Valley Campground in Joshua Tree National Park, California
- Sandy Springs Campground, Ohio
- BLM Middle Fork Shafer Canyon Dispersed, Utah
- St. Andrews State Park, Florida
- Keuka Lake State Park, New York
- Elkamp Eastcreek, Washington
These top 10 campgrounds offer a range of environments, from grasslands and forests to mountains and lakes, showcasing the variety of experiences available to campers. The cost to stay at these sites ranges from free to nearly $300 per night.
Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt, notes that many people may not realize just how many campgrounds exist. “If someone visited a different campground in the U.S. every single day, it would take 140 years to see them all,” Long pointed out.
Smith highlighted that the best part of this year’s list is the inclusion of numerous free camping locations. She mentioned that visiting places like The Wall or Saddle Mountain at the Grand Canyon offers some of life’s best experiences and nature encounters for free.
“On the other hand, sometimes you just feel like camping in luxury with an ocean view and s’mores ingredients delivered right to your campsite at a place like Bay Point Landing. To each camper their own,” Smith said.
