This morning Grand Design continued in what may be its predictable way of trying to drum up interest in its first motorized RV. In yet another “teaser” release on YouTube, the Winnebago-owned group pumped out a less-than-half-minute video. The description below the video states: “Introducing Lineage Series-M – the newest member of the Grand Design family! Set to redefine motorized RVs, Lineage is crafted with quality and innovation, highlighting Grand Design’s legacy.” A fleeting still-frame image of the mystery motorhome took up less than six seconds of the entire video. Grand Design continues to tease.
Grand Design continues to tease and gets lukewarm reactions
Evidently not all who viewed the teaser video agreed with Grand Design’s claim that the new Lineage rig will “redefine motorized RVs.” When we checked in, 1,585 views had been made of the clip, and of those who commented, it was a mixed-bag of responses.
“Looks very GD-esque. Too bad it was just a blink of an eye,” said one. “Was hoping for more of a Super C or Class A diesel pusher. I’ll stick with my Momentum,” wrote another.
Several commented on the Lineage’s windows—or lack thereof. “Hmmmm, only one tiny window on the passenger side?” asked one viewer. “We like lots of windows to let natural light in and to let us always have a scenic view. Looks like the driver’s side has a slide out with windows,” wrote another.
But at least one watcher was quick to defend the limited-view-screen approach. “You don’t need a lot of windows. If you want to see outside then step outside.” The same reviewer added, “Less windows means more insulation.”
It’s been less than a month since Grand Design’s first release of a “view” of the new rig. That one consisted of a front-grill picture, indicating the new rig would be built on a Mercedes platform. As Grand Design continues to tease, dribbling out more, in a few months it’s possible that potential buyers will have some idea of what they could be buying.

I really don’t understand what GD is thinking here, other than they want to add a motorized product to their lineup. Winnebago (parent company) already has a plethora of MBS based class C’s, so I really see no sense in adding this to the lineup. Beside, GD has taken a really huge black eye on the “frame flex” issue and their (lack of) response publicly to the resolution of this product to all GD owners, both in and out of the warranty window. Add to this, the lack of motorized sales so far in 2024, and I think this will turn into a real bad decision on GD / Winnebago’s part.
Well, we can be pretty sure, in the current environment, that GD isn’t investing in a new manufacturing facility. Whatever this motorized product is, I’d bet it will be made on Winnebago’s line in Forest City. It will be a rebadged Winnie, maybe with a few different bells & whistles.
This would follow how Jayco makes Entegra Class C’s, but with a few nicer adds.

Winnebago setting up GD with a motorized division ahead of selling off the entire line, as a more complete company, to someone else in the RV business, like Camping World maybe ?

I use to like Grand Design, but reading about the many issue owners seem to have. I wouldn’t buy a Grand Design RV. Last year I looked at a used Grand Design TT with the rear dinette but they wanted as much as it was new.
You know…again, Grand Design. Fix your TT’s and 5’ers FIRST before you produce ANOTHER poorly built product. smh
