A weather system is set to bring widespread rain to Oregon and southwest Washington from tomorrow night through Wednesday. Forecasts indicate rainfall between 0.25 and 0.50 inches, offering much-needed relief to regions grappling with wildfires and help with reducing fire danger.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland reports a 60% to 80% chance of rain across most of the region, with some areas experiencing even higher probabilities.
The rainstorm is expected to usher in cooler, fall-like temperatures by midweek.
The heaviest rainfall is expected to be along the coast and the western slopes of the Cascade mountains. Oregon communities like Astoria, Eugene, and McMinnville could receive more than a half-inch of rain. The rain will also impact travel, creating wet road conditions and reduced visibility.
The National Weather Service advises residents and travelers to stay updated with the latest forecasts and drive cautiously (a weather map is included in each day’s RV Daily Tips Newsletter).

Dang, missing the wet, cooler weather by just a couple of days. Still following the heat southward. 🥵
Wow, when a quarter inch in the northwest is news, you know it’s been dry!
Shhh.🤫 Don’t tell anyone, Gordon. You’ll ruin our reputation of it raining all of the time here.😉 Have a good evening/night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Well, I certainly hope that it rains bunches and quells the wildfires. Hopefully, there are no multi-vehicle wrecks due to the rainfall. Thanks again, have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Lord knows we need the rain…and not a gully washer all at once. But I can foresee many road warriors sliding around on the slick roads.
