How about an inflatable dog fence for the campsite?

Michelle Gilmartin, a member of our RVing with Dogs Facebook group, saw an inflatable fence at a campground. Since the idea of an inflatable fence is a new concept for me, I thought I’d write an addendum to my previous article about ways to contain your dog while RVing.

A thousand words?

They say, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” and in the case of inflatable dog fencing, I just had to see it to believe it! Imagine the convenience of a fence that is as sturdy and durable as wood, yet inflatable, portable, and easy to set up.

This modular fencing system is designed to meet the needs of caravan, campervan, RV, and motorhome owners who seek both flexibility and strength in containing their property and pets outdoors.

Versatile and adaptable design

InflataFENCE® features a modular design. It can be easily adapted to various lengths, making it perfect for different types of outdoor living setups. The base models start from dimensions of approximately 13 feet by 6½ feet with heights of either 2½ feet or 4 feet, providing ample options for your different needs.

Durable construction

One of the key features of the InflataFENCE is its durability. When inflated to the recommended pressure levels of 1 to 2 PSI, the company claims that their fence becomes incredibly hard. This rigidity ensures that your fence remains sturdy and dependable, no matter where you set it up. In the rare event of a puncture, the included repair kit and instructions make it easy to fix.

High-quality materials

Big Sky Innovations is the Australian company behind the InflataFENCE. This fencing is constructed from heavy-duty, UV-protected PVC, making it non-toxic and resistant to harsh outdoor conditions. Additionally, the base structure features a 1.1 mm-thick PVC base, hot welded for extra durability, and reinforced with 2 mm-thick ribbed rubber matting at stress points.

Easy setup and portability

Inflating and deflating the InflataFENCE takes just two to three minutes, thanks to the 240-volt pump included in the standalone kits. Once deflated, the fence folds neatly into a compact carry bag, similar in size to a large gym bag, making it easy to transport and store. This portability ensures that you can take your InflataFENCE anywhere you go, whether for a short trip or an extended adventure.

Secure installation

To ensure optimum stability, each InflataFENCE model includes built-in anchor lugs for pegging and tying down. The swing gate provides easy access, and additional panels can be added for expansion, allowing you to customize the fence to your specific needs.

Warranty

Big Sky Innovations offers a 12-month Manufacturer’s Warranty for all their products, covering manufacturing defects for the original owner. This warranty ensures that any issues due to manufacturing or workmanship will be addressed.

Multiple power options

InflataFENCE offers various pump options to suit different power supplies, including electric outlets, battery, cigarette lighter plugs, or manual operation. This flexibility ensures that you can inflate and use your fence no matter where you travel.

Reviews

Verified users give this fencing option for dogs high ratings overall.

Gaye R. commented, “Love our portable fencing. It’s so much easier than our old metal fencing.”

Another verified user, Anita, said, “The fence itself was quick to put up and down … It fits back in the bag easy enough and the bag is waterproof, so we are happy to pack it either on the front or back of the van. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase and look forward to many travels with the dogs knowing they will be safe. Prior to this purchase, we were carrying around heavy fence panels which took forever to put up.”

Cost

Yes, as you may have guessed, this inflatable fencing is quite pricey, ranging from about $700-$1,500. Potential buyers will want to compare the fence’s high cost against the ease of use, compact and lightweight storage requirements, and adaptability. If your dog goes RVing with you, the inflatable fencing is one option to consider.

As a professional dog show handler who travels extensively with a wide range of dog breeds I see several limitations to this, including the fact that dogs can, will, and do chew on all kinds of thing and nothing inflatable is indestructible.

It is also not possible to easily configure different shaped areas to fit in to where your campsite allots AND requires power to set up .

For the cost and use limitations this is a four paws down for me.

We just use a wire lead encased in plastic against moisture. This seems better for those staying somewhere for several days at a time. We move more frequently than monthly or weekly. Thanks again, have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

Would campgrounds really allow these? Imagine being in the site next door, with an inflatable dog fence the length of the RV filled with yapping dogs, while the owners remain inside in the air conditioned RV. All the while the dogs are barking nonstop while not being watched…..YIKES

At 240 volts that’s one stout air pump.
