If you know what “Double-Double®” means, and if you’ve ever ordered your burger “Animal Style®,” then you must be a fan of In-N-Out Burger. Never a franchise, this relatively small chain of restaurants has been largely an “Out West” phenomenon. But take heart, In-N-Out is slowly plodding its way eastward, bringing “3x3s” and other “not-so-secret” menu items.
Freshness issues keep In-N-Out restaurants on slow growth path
Why so small a service area? It goes back to the company’s founding philosophy. The website explains: “Because of a rigorous commitment to quality and freshness, the company only builds stores that are located within a close proximity of their four in-house patty-making facilities. This ensures it will never take more than a single day’s drive for their own trucks to deliver fresh ingredients to each restaurant.”
As dyed-in-the-wool In-N-Out fans, we can raise our hand and testify to those fresh ingredients. Maybe that’s what causes such long lines at company drive-throughs. Near Phoenix, Arizona, one location funnels you in from the street, then splits into two lanes, which eventually merge again before hitting the pickup window. Don’t be discouraged, In-N-Out workers are quick!
Where, oh where, will be these new locations be found?
So what new locations are coming? In an almost agonizing tease-like declaration, the family-owned business says new restaurants will come to New Mexico, Washington, and Tennessee “in coming years.” Keeping it fresh for Southland dwellers, there’ll be a hub, presumably with one of those “in-house patty-making” factories, outside of Nashville.
Well, enough of our own teasing. Here’s where you’ll find new In-N-Out Burger restaurants coming a lot sooner than “in the coming years.” New 2025 locations?
- Anaheim, California — 540 N. Euclid St.
- Carson, California — 20512 Avalon Blvd.
- Sylmar, California — 13864 Foothill Blvd.
- Nampa, Idaho — 16225 N. Marketplace Dr.
- South Salt Lake, Utah — 21 E. 2100 S.

And that “hub” in Nashville? Tennessee’s first In-N-Out Burger restaurants should open in 2026. And if you’re into the glitter of Vegas, look for one on the Strip—one of the biggest in the chain—also in 2026.
And cry not, New Mexico. You, too, will be blessed with the ability to get those French fry containers with the red palm trees printed on the side when a new In-N-Out opens there in 2027.

Thank you, Russ and Tina! I have heard of this brand of restaurants, but not sure where or why. I have never eaten at one. Sounds like their product well exceeds my low threshold for required quality. Beyond that, my emphasis is quantity. Thus, I am a fan of our modest Krystal burgers. Will be curious to see how this goes. Of course those Nashville folks are a highfalutin bunch, so I expect this will do real well by them. Happy new year amd safe travels! 🙂
I guess you don’t know what you don’t know. When you do come close to an In-and-out be ready to wait. Look up special “not so secret” menu items before u get there. Start with a double double animal style or if you really like your fries, animal style fries. Oh and don’t forget to get a few of the little green peppers next to the condiment.
Thank you, Chuck B! 🙂 If I get near enough and there’s no line, then I’ll try it. Generally, food better than mediocre in quality is wasted on me, with the possible exception of ice cream. Safe travels!
In and Out is anything but mediocre!
Amen!
Come to N. Texas, lines aren’t any longer than at any other fast food burger joint.
How about Daytona Beach Florida????
I know others love the food and the experience. We visited our first In-N-Out near San Marcos, Texas a couple years ago. It wasn’t horrible food, but also no better than most of the chain fast food burger joints. Yet the prices were higher than nearby competitors. Certainly the experience wasn’t anything better either. We won’t be going out of our way for a repeat visit.
They are however giving free meals to firefighters this week. The front line force is skipping lines, going direct to front and getting free food before getting back to fires.
Well done In’nOut.
I agree. As for my family, it was a one and done visit. As for the comment about In-and-Out donating food, from what I read and the map that Delish has published, there is over 100 restaurants giving free food to the first responders.
There are 5 In-n-Out burger stores in the Austin, TX area, as well as several others around Houston.
