In the video below, our favorite RV gearhead, Joshua from RV Gear & Far, discusses an RV door latch extender, one of his favorite RV accessories. Joshua loves this gadget’s functionality. However, he encountered issues with his MORryde extender.
Joshua installed the MORryde RV door latch extender and said it made how everyone interacted with the RV’s door much easier, especially the kids. It all was great for about 18 months, then things got loose.
Joshua discovered that the mounting screw had essentially drilled through the door handle on his Latch.it lock. He tried some remedial fixes, but the door handle was destroyed.
When he contacted MORryde, they reported they tested this accessory on some of the most popular lock brands and did not have an issue. He found that it took more than 100 pounds of force to break the locks, although they had not tested against Latch.it locks.
Joshua says while he loves this accessory, it does not play well with all locks, as he found out the hard way. In the video, he also talks about a Lippert RV door latch extender, but this one requires you to replace the lock in order to use the extender.
Joshua is still researching the solution, but for now, he says anyone buying one of these should also examine their locks for potential compatibility issues before installing.

I just looked at the Latch.it website. They do not even show a keyless lock.

Thank you for noting the video and summarizing its main point, Cheri! Good to publicize the warning. Have a great day and safe travels!
Good article. It would be nice to see Mor Ryde step up and do something for that customer.
that could be jerry rigged to work with a little creative thinking and a few minutes.
