Motorhome crashes into parked cars. Watch video

A 19-year-old San Bernardino, California, man watched his savings and hard work go to waste when an out-of-control RV crashed into his family’s parked cars last week. Watch the news segment from KTLA near the bottom of this article (it contains a commercial before the actual news report).

Surveillance footage shows the RV ramming Daniel Gallardo’s car, then smashing into at least two others. When the driver backed up, he hit three more vehicles, according to the sheriff’s department.

The arrest of the driver, believed to live nearby, had not yet been announced when we posted this article.

Gallardo and his neighbors, suspecting the driver was under the influence, followed him down the street and tried to confront him. “He was drowsy, his eyes were red, and he was slurring his words,” Gallardo told KTLA-TV.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said it has attempted to contact the driver, but no further details have been released. Gallardo later contacted the driver’s insurance company, only to learn the insurance had expired, leaving him with no coverage. “It’s a total loss,” Gallardo said, noting his car is beyond repair. Gallardo only had liability insurance. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Gallardo with repairing or replacing his severely damaged car.

And no sobriety test from police? I suppose he could have refused…that would have been a good piece of info as they can’t force a drunk to take one.

So sad when a RV owner is irresponsible. It gives the general public a distorted view of the greater RV community.

It’s not like there is a lack of proof!

“Only had liability insurance” was a personal decision, so a GoFundMe page? Hmm.

Hi, Tom. Is “Gig him” like “Book him”? Or is that a typo? Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

Thank you, RV Travel! Wow! That was unreal. I can hardly believe that someone would be so careless, so reckless, and, at this point, seem to get away with it. How very sad for Daniel Gallardo!?! Have a great day and safe travels!
