Lectric eBikes announces brand-new model—upgrades at the same price

Many RVers want to pedal around on a bike. At the same time, they loathe the thought of running out of steam for their return trip back to camp. An electric bike might seem like a great answer. Pedal out, let the bike do the work if you get too tired. But cost and space considerations are a deterrent. How about a folding electric bike for less than $1,000?

Upgraded Lectric eBike—same price as predecessor

Lectric eBikes, which bills itself as the best-selling eBike company in America in 2023 and 2024, has announced the launch of its XP Lite 2.0. The 2.0 is a newly upgraded version of one of its most popular and affordable eBikes, the XP Lite. With a low starting price of $799, the foldable XP Lite has become beloved by riders across the country, from college students to RV enthusiasts. The new release maintains the same starting price as the original model but adds new features. An upgraded version sports the XP Lite’s first-ever belt drive, offering near-maintenance-free riding.

“The response was overwhelming when we first launched the XP Lite two years ago,” said Lectric eBikes co-founder and CEO Levi Conlow. “We know our riders will appreciate all the new XP Lite upgrades they’ve been asking for, and they’ll love that they can get those for the low price folks expect from Lectric. And we’re going to maintain that low price for our customers despite the recent news of increased tariffs on all eBikes.”

What are the folding electric bike upgrades?

  • Hydraulic disc brakes
  • BMX-inspired stem/handlebar
  • Color LCD display
  • Vertical rear wheel dropouts
  • Swift slick street tires
  • PWRā„¢ (Pedal Assist Wattage Regulation) and Speed-based pedal assist options

An add-on option of the new version is the Gates Carbon Drive belt, adding $100 to the price tag. With a belt drive, the XP Lite 2.0 becomes nearly maintenance-free with a carbon fiber-reinforced belt providing a chainless drivetrain. This option is said to be clean, quieter, smooth, and strong. The automotive-grade belt lasts longer than standard chains, and doesn’t rust or require lubricant.

The XP Lite 2.0 comes with a one-year warranty and is available now at lectricebikes.com. The XP Lite 2.0 JW Black with the Gates Carbon Drive belt comes with an all-new black color scheme for $899. The standard equipment on the bike with the carbon drive belt includes a 7.8Ah battery providing 45 miles of range. An upgrade to a 14Ah battery with 80 miles of range translates to a bill of $1,099.

But what about the regular, chain drive unit? The standard XP Lite 2.0 with a chain drive is available in the brand-new Lavender Haze color, as well as Lectric Blue, Arctic White, and Sandstorm, each for $799 with a 7.8Ah battery and 45 miles of range. Increase your range with a 14Ah battery with 80 miles of range for $999.

Concerned about battery safety?

As with all Lectric eBikes, the XP Lite 2.0 is certified to UL 2849, a bi-national accredited consensus standard for the U.S. and Canada. That standard covers micromobility devices like eBikes and takes a holistic electrical system approach to the safety of battery packs and battery management systems. This is to minimize the potential risks associated with battery usage. The standard includes the battery cell, battery pack, electric motor, and battery charger.

I’ve been a Lectric E-Bike owner since 2019. I can attest to their excellent customer service. My bike was seriously damaged when it came partially loose from my carrier on the back of our 5th trailer (my fault). All of the control cables, wiring harnesses, brake controls, gear shifter, throtte, and handle bar grips, were completely compromised as the handle bars drug on the pavement until I could slow down from 65mph and pull off on to the shoulder. Even the main electronic controller and the hub motor were damaged due to the wiring harness shorting out when the pavement ground away all the insulation. I found the Lectric’s service department to be extremely patient, helpful, and generous.
