It’s the holidays, and this is a big week for the holidays—they’re here!
Will you travel this week, or have you already traveled, for the holidays? If so, will you travel by plane? RV? Car? Or are you staying put?
When we say “travel,” we mean going somewhere where you’ll stay overnight for at least one night. We don’t mean driving 25 miles down the road to a family member’s house.
For some, holiday travel means hitting the road in an RV, finding a campground or boondocking spot to create new traditions.
Others brave airports to visit loved ones, while some enjoy a shorter car trip to celebrate nearby.
And then there are those who stay home, enjoying the comforts of their space and hosting others instead.

An unusual year for us: we will be at our home, just us! Not at my brother’s, or sister’s, or brothers in laws, sister in laws, or son’s home!
We’ll do our usual 220 mile round trip commute between our retirement home and city house I’m increasingly tired by it out even tho DH does the driving. Our children will be with our adult grandchildren. Make a special effort to lay up memories before you retire or save “enough” money. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed I’m glad for all the camping I did with my son and grandson and Scouts when I was younger and busier. I’m grateful for the memories now
You should ask if we travel this Holiday season. We will be home for Christmas, but right after we will travel in our RV to spend New Years at another place.

I said ‘no’ even though our daughter’s family is over 1700 miles from our house. That is because we come south for the entire winter; not just the holidays.
For us, one nice part of retirement is the need to travel during busy holiday seasons is no longer necessary.
We actually drove last week to our daughter’s for Christmas. (1325 miles) We always travel early so we can be there for her birthday on the 22nd.
One mile over to my Mother-in-Law’s to bring her here for dinner. Son might come over if he is feeling better, knows better than to show up if he is sick. If he is, we will postpone Christmas until the first. Won’t be the first time or the last time we did this with the family. The many years I was in the Navy, we could not always be home for Christmas so we celebrated when we could.
Yes for the season, 2 months! Not this week.
Nope, 2 of our 3 girls & their families will be here to stay with us & we will go to the 3rd daughters house on the 28th. We will have a full house! Merry Christmas everyone!
1.4 miles to my son’s house from the RV park we traveled 600 miles to stay for the winter.
