Most new RVs have built-in outdoor TVs. Did your RV come with one or did you add one on? If so, how often do you watch it outside?
Outdoor TVs can be a lot of fun – gather the family or friends for a sports game or award show, or even curl up with a cozy blanket by the campfire and watch a movie with your special someone. On the other hand, though, if you’re in a crowded campground, outdoor TVs can be a real pain. If that’s not your sports team, or if you hate award shows, you probably don’t want to listen to your neighbor’s TV.
In point of fact we do not have TV. There are TVs in our stix n bricks, mainly so the grandkids can watch their Disney videos. Since they’re now in their 30s and live out of state, we can use the computer to watch news and specials.
We used to have one but water got into the outside compartment when it rained hard and it no longer worked. We didn’t use it when it did work. Took it out and use it for storage.
Don’t have one, Don’t need one. Not out in the RV to watch TV. Would rather have storage.
We have two TVs only inside and I believe the last time we watched the front TV was three years ago when we were on a three week trip down south and were worried about the weather. Bedroom TV was tested when we bought the coach in 2009, but we never converted it to work on the Digital TV system, so it is no longer usable and if it would not leave a big scar on the ceiling, I would remove it.
We removed the outdoor TV and use that space for storage. Our motorhome came with 4 TV’s. We’ve removed all but the one in the bedroom and don’t even know if it works.
We have 2 inside (1 in the bedroom and 1 in the living area) and 1 outside. The only time I’ve turned the outside 1 on is to see if it works. My travel partner uses the 1 in the bedroom to play her video games.
I have a TV that I hook up inside my pass-thru storage area. I realized quickly that we hardly watched it so I don’t bother hooking it up any longer.
We watch our outdoor TV almost every day. It’s great for having friends over to watch football games. We sometimes have a football watch party and have 10 or more friends over to watch.
When the vast majority of respondents are “never” or “very rarely” it makes you wonder if RV manufacturers ever pay attention to their consumers. The shear number of TVs in most coaches per square foot is insane.
Outdoor TVs are a pestilence of noise. I don’t want to hear your music either.
We love to watch baseball games outside. That is the only thing we watch on our outdoor TV.
We use to use it quite a bit because we would sit outside with the dog. My son and I would also sit outside smoke cigars, drink bourbon, and watch football when he visited us on our trips. Now it only gets used to make sure it works and the cabinet is still dry.
It would not effect our decision if one was not on an RV we wanted to purchase.

We will watch an occasional baseball game as we are huge Cardinal fans. Depending on where we camp, strangers will often walk up and join us!
While ours doesn’t have a dedicated outside TV it does have a bracket designed to easily move the one from the garage to the outside bracket. I don’t go camping to watch TV and it is too much work to move the thing anyway.
I don’t watch TV, DW likes 70 yr old western reruns, I watch YouTube videos.
I have no problem with campers using outdoor TV’s, so long as they are not in a park or near other campers. Otherwise its inconsiderate of their neighbors peace and quite.
Our used Newmar came with one. I only rarely use it to QUIETLY watch the news if I’m grilling. If it wasn’t there I wouldn’t care. I would never pay to option one in.
I’ve had neighbors that think the entire campground wants to listen. Last year had one that had it cranked up then they left for the day and just left the TV on. 😤
I may have been tempted to unplug their RV.
Winnebago supplied a coax connection and a 110v outlet in a storage compartment so you could put a set there but I chose to put a small fridge there- much more useful!
I occasionally use it when camping in my RV, but camping is not the ONLY THING I DO with my RV. Our local American Legion has a ‘tailgate’ which is used as a fundraiser all football season. different parts take turns and I use my RV to tailgate at least 4 times a year, while we are cooking food for others. To me, a tailgate is a firepit, adult beverages, food and a TV.
We rarely do. However, we don’t have a built in one. We bought a smaller one to put in a bin we can slide out. We only use it for race or golf programs. We always record to DVR and watch later. We sit close and keep the sound down. We can use closed caption if we are really close together. Only do this when we have no plans to sightsee & weather is nice.

When we tailgate at football games we always watch the outside television. When traveling, we watch sometimes, so I averaged things and opted for “Often.”
I could but never have. To do so would require a TV disconnect and reconnect to the outside outlets and it seems so unnecessary. Unless we have a campfire, we tend to stay in at night.
We have an outdoor TV, but it wasn’t our choice. I think we have watched it once or twice in 7+ years of full time RVing.
