Maybe your favorite activity is playing your guitar around the campfire, or perhaps you play music gigs around the country. Maybe you like to annoy your husband with your accordion, or maybe the grandkids left their kazoo behind and you haven’t stopped playing it…
Whatever the case, do you bring a musical instrument with you on your RV trips? If so, will you share with us what instrument it is and if you play it professionally or just for fun? We want to know! As always, thank you for sharing!

I bring a Native American flute.
It makes my wife crazy but I bring four musical instruments along, a hammered dulcimer, a small guitar (for backing up other dulcimer players) and two button accordions. Storage is an issue but at our RV resorts I usually make music with friends or find local jam sessions or open mics.
Lack of talent.
Me, too. 🙁
Nope for a howling dog would sound better.
I lead a professional jazz trio. I never leave home without my guitar.
Yes indeed. It’s called a radio. LoL
ditto
No, but we were treated to an impromptu concert staying a week over Christmas at a Florida RV park. Young family with two boys who were very talented. They gave the park a free Christmas concert.
I have no musical ability. Can’t even sing, wife says I have a five note capability. She plays a Piano when in the mood.
Pulled in to a park and saw a drum set outside a MH ….. we moved on.
Hi, George. Maybe it was just a “prop” to give them space(?).🤔 Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
No reason to. I can barely play the radio, let alone an instrument. Really wish I could, though.
Ditto
I did till it was stolen from my site.
I always have a harmonica with me. Maybe someday I’ll learn how to play the dang thing!
I bring a recorder (flute), but almost never play it. Luckily, it takes up little room.
Except for a kazoo, I never learned how to play a musical instrument. I wanted to learn percussion in school. My mother said absolutely not, pick another instrument. Both of us being stubborn, I never did.
Hi, Jim. Reminds me of my instrumental background. In the 4th grade I had to pick out what instrument I wanted to learn. Having just seen the “Benny Goodman Story” (1956), I thought it sounded like fun to play a “licorice stick.” Well, even though I didn’t like it very well, I was “first chair” in band and orchestra all through school, then I quit playing it. Don’t miss it at all. Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
4 Native American flutes in different keys, all made by the craftsman at High Spirit Flutes in Patagonia AZ. Excellent workmanship & superior tone!
Does my washboard with bottle cap gloves count? I can be the rhythm section if others bring their instruments. I also bring a cajon and the world’s largest kazoo. Seriously.
I have 2 washboards 1 personal size 1 family Apparently I’m the only 1 left in the USA who washes clothes on a washboard Not routinely in case of electrical outage
Does a boatload of 60’s – 80’s classic rock CD’s count? lol, this was (and still is) the best era of music, IMHO!
I play the steering wheel drums to the music on the radio 🙃
If you consider the roar of a generator music to your ears? Then yes, I bring one.
I bring a plethora of instruments. I used to be able to play 13 instruments. Now, in my old age I’m only doing 8 or so.
Piano keyboard, 88 note weighted key Allesis. Viola, C flute, Upright string bass, Bass guitar, Cello, Baritone euphonium, variety of Native American flutes.
The keyboard is my newest instrument, only 2 years old. I built it into my motorhome. The euphonium is oldest (1928) followed by my cello (1936).
I’m a pianist. I always bring my grand piano—in my dreams. Luckily, I don’t practice like I used to, and many places have pianos to play when I get the urge. Playing at MacDonald Lodge in Glacier NP was fun.
Highly recommend getting a Uke and learning how to play it. Plenty of easy songbooks out there. Calms me right down. Always ask neighbors if it’s OK to play for a bit. Only turned down once ……by bird watchers. Most folks seem to really enjoy it.
Though some folks can’t carry a tune in a barrel most everyone brings their voice with them everywhere. My singing voice isn’t what it used to be but I always have it with me 😎.
The only musical instrument that I play is the radio
Since I live full-time in my RV, my musical instruments are always with me. I have a full-sized electronic piano keyboard, a bass guitar and three Native American flutes.
Can’t play anything myself, but I enjoy the impromptu bluegrass jam sessions at many Tennessee state parks. There’s almost always somebody with a banjo, a fiddle, a guitar, and maybe a mandolin.
