As you know, Sunday–Friday we feature a “Readers’ Pet of the Day” in our newsletters. If you read our newsletters often, you’ll notice that fairly often, at least a few times a week, there’s more than one pet in the photo. Sometimes someone has three pets, sometimes four!
On most of your RV trips, how many animals/pets travel with you? Just one? Two? Three? Four? Five? More?!
After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us about your pet(s). And if you haven’t submitted a photo yet to be featured, you can do so here. We’re running low, so this is much appreciated! Thanks!

None.
4 cats. Each has their own place in the RV.
Why is none, not an option?
Two beagles. Great company and a great and night watch crew.
We have 5 cats our entertainment.
Wondering why the animal poll didn’t have an option for NO animals.
Annie and Maddie are our two Labrador Retrievers. They’re with us all the time at home, how could they not be with us traveling and camping? They are spoiled girls, and sisters.
None
NONE. Love animals but we have had our last.
I picked “Five or More” so I could leave a comment.
Your poll does not offer “NONE”
8 cats, 3 birds, 1 dog.
Zero
Again, none. I have seen and heard too many left inside while the owners are out sightseeing. Unless you are not planning on leaving them alone, it’s not fair to the animals.
Our old lab prefers sleeping all day in the trailer. He is trained to do that since he stays all day in our house at times. Give him plenty of water and treats and he is happy as a clam. Keep the AC on with a 12v fan and all is good even with a power failure.
None! And enjoying life!
None! Thankfully!
None.
You should have had a “0” category! That would have shown how many don’t travel with pets vs. how many that do.
Thank you, RV Travel. We intentionally travel with Weagle, our eleven-month Australian Shepherd. In addition to our dog there may be as many as two or three stow-away field mice. Ideally, if the mice begin the trip, they are discovered at some point, their life extinguished, and their bodies jettisoned before the trip concludes. Such are vicissitudes of living in the “country.” Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
None unless stink bugs count!
Zero. I don’t count the critters on the bonnets of the 5th wheel or the tow vehicle.
We travel with two cats. One keeps the coach 100% mouse free and the other allows us to RV with him as long as we drive, pay for everything and keep feeding him……
One but we traveled for many years with 2 dogs but lost one in 10/23. We miss her very much but don’t have plans to get another due to our ages.
We also lost one of ours 11/23, then the other 2/24. We still have the one old man but won’t get another pup until we are done camping. Maybe a cat for the ‘no go’ years. We miss our pups too. It is tough. Sorry for your loss.
None should have been a response
Our 2 large dogs are our companions & they are competitors in Agility & Rally, so some of our RV travel is in support of their sports. We only leave then alone if we absolutely must, & then for as short a time as possible.
A Dog and a Cat
We horse camp and take the dog out on the trails with us
NONE
My travel partner has 2 and I have 2. So, 4 when we travel. I’m a full timer, it’s usually just my 2 when we park for a while.
Last year we had 3, now just the one little old guy. While that may make things easier, I sure will miss them. They loved camping more than anything.
None! Our dog died last year and we are not going to get another pet.
Golden retriever and two indoor only house cats. The 3 have developed their own rules for house vs. tiny house behavior to share the space. 🙂
How about none? We’ve never taken our pets with us, for two reasons. 1. They are outdoor pets only. They are farm animals and are never indoors except on extremely cold nights. 2. Neither of us can stand the thought of animals on our furniture, bed, etc.
Do stuffed animals count? Well of course they do! We bring 6. There have been times when 1 or 2 more want to come along. We haven’t yet had any behavior problems with any, though finding room at night on our bed can be an issue.
Hellen Keller, our blind/deaf senior poodle (the wife hates it when I call him that) LOL!
And “Ralphy” our one eared guard cat (also not his real name, but it is when we’re travelling)! He doesn’t travel well (pun intended).
Although I don’t particularly care for cleaning up after him, he more than earns his keep by controlling the rodent population, and his companionship (he follows me around like a dog, and is sleeping at my feet as I write this).
I’d like to know how many people like us have no pets. We’ve been fulltime for almost 15 years. We both like pets & have had pets in our previous marriages, but don’t want the responsibility & work of pets until we are done traveling.
You forgot the choice of NONE!
Zero!
Nadda!
My wife has to keep track of me (husband) and that’s a big enough PITA!
Why would you want to add an animal to the mix?

⭐ You win the gold star, Jim, for having the shortest comment ever (out of 264,128 of them, not counting the ones that had to be deleted). Have a good evening/night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
I have a Jack Russell Terrier and my wife has an American Cocker Spaniel that go with us when RVing. Both are barkers by nature but we have trained them to stop when I say “enough”. Now to teach them to listen to momma.
Traveling this week with 9 cats (recently found an abandoned litter of 4) and 1 dog. Numbers go up and down as they cross the rainbow bridge but can’t imagine life / traveling without pets. They bring such joy to our lives💕
We are among the few, we travel with no animals. Pets or otherwise.
My answer is zero. Why was that not one of the choices?
1 cat n 1 small dog.
None! Should have been an option.
I started 6 years ago with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Now I travel with two different dogs. Even if taking the car they go with me.
Where is the NONE option?
Not one, zero, nill, not’ta…….
We travelled with 3, then 2 died- one probable cancer, 1 poisoned by eating a poisoned rat. That leaves 3 “dumps” in the yard we have to arrange for them to be fed while we travel. All ours were dumps. There are 2 that want to be indoor cats but freak out in small spaces. Our 1 fulltime house cat is almost 15 years old now. She’s nice to cuddle.
