How many miles are on your motorhome or tow vehicle?

Unless you just bought your RV, we’re guessing your RV or tow vehicle has some pretty serious miles on it. Unless you bought it to live on a plot of land, you probably drive it around from place to place, park to park, attraction to attraction, quite a bit.

Go take a peek at the odometer, will you? If you tow your RV, check your tow vehicle, and if you have a motorhome, check that.

Report back in the poll below and let us know how many miles are on it. Thanks!

At 40K, As a mercedes diesel, the engine is barely broken in! If anyone out there is rebuilding a truck, a motor home engine is *like new!*

We just turned 60K on our 2016 F-350. I bought it in 2018 with 8K. Most of the mileage was back and forth from Reno to Houston a bunch of times.

Pulled my 30ft trailer over 50000 miles. Am on second set of tires and nothing else has failed or broken. My f150 has over 160000 but runs good.

We have a 2002 Fleetwood Bounder 29Z with only 7k, but haven’t towed with it yet as I recently retired, and need to figure out what we want to do.

2017 Chevy 3500 dually diesel. 260km, and runs amazingly! No need to trade it in and kick in an extra 100K for a new one. I would rather spend the money on a 69 Camaro!

Our ’04 40′ Newmar Mountain Aire has 220,000 miles on it now. We bought it from the original owners in 2017 with 141,000 on it. We’re fulltimers and we actually travel with it. Powered by Cummins 400 hp ISL, coupled to Allison 6 speed progammable transmission.

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 We put 48,000 miles on RV #1 in 5 1/2 years before trading it in 2022. We have about 20,200 on #2. So that was my answer, less than 25,000. Thanks again, have a great week, and safe travels! 🙂

Bought new, I have put 140,000 miles on it in the last 14 years. Sadly, the prognosis for travel in the immediate future is not good, but hope springs eternal.

49,162 last week on our new to us 2015 Dutch Star. We bought it last year with 38,000 miles. We put about 12,000 miles a year, buy used every five years or so, look for an 8- to 10-year-old with 30,000 to 50,000 miles.

The other factor is miles over how long? 2020 Subaru Ascent has 70K+ miles (call it 113K km). Roughly 16K miles per year with a fairly consistent 40% of that towing.

2012 I bought a Chevy Silverado 2500. In 2014 the car dealership called and wanted me to trade that vehicle for a new vehicle and they were offering me $100 less per monthly payment. At that time I was contemplating a 5th wheel so I dealt myself a 3500 Silverado. The vehicle has 93k on it and I have had no problems. I keep up with the maintenance and it runs and tows great. I priced a replacement truck the other day and after I got up off the floor I told the wife….we will get rid of this truck when we are done with the 5th wheel.

Motorhome about 11,000. Jeep 298,888.

These are two separate entities. A motorhome is driven strictly for RVing where a tow vehicle can also be a daily driver so the mileage between the two aren’t comparable. For those who were confused, they asked about a tow vehicle not a towed vehicle.

Yes I use my F-150 for everyday driving also. I wish there was a device that could record the miles my Airstream has been towed.

I’ve kept a log of every RV trip we’ve gone on since we picked it up new in 2017. At the end of 2023 we have pulled it just over 23,000 miles. The trip we’re on right now is going to add over 1000 more.
