They’re big! They’re small! They’re too big! They’re too small! We’re talking about your RV refrigerator, and whatever the size, we bet you have feelings about it!
Do you think your RV’s fridge is too big? Too small? Or is it a “Goldilocks” size, juuuust right?
If you think it’s too big, would you rather have a smaller fridge and use that extra space for something else (like an additional cabinet or pantry, maybe?). If it’s too small, have you ever thought about replacing it? If it’s too small, do you use something like a cooler for excess refrigerated items? Please leave a comment with your answers. Thank you!

Planning and rectangular containers help out.
Got rid of the 11 cu/ft NotSoCold aka Norcold 1200 and installed an 18 cu/ft Samsung residential RF-197. Plenty of space and it stays COLD!
The refrigerator space is okay but could use more space in the freezer.
On long trips (more than a week), we support local grocery stores to supplement the little DC refer in the RV.
Got a SetPower cooler/freezer that uses both 12V or AC. I use it to supplement my freezer setting it to its maximum low temp of -4°F. Now instead of going to the supermarket 2-3 times a week I only go once a week. Very quiet I don’t even know it’s running.
What wish is it was a bottom freezer with fridge on top rather than a side by side
If you need bigger you want too much. Use common sense.
Our 2.7 cubic foot refrigerator is a challenge but we make it work for the most part.
Your poll should include “it’s just right”. That would be my choice.
For longer away-from-towns trips it could be bigger, but generally these days we are taking shorter (3-5 day) trips in support of our dogs’ Agility & Rally sports
Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Our refrigerator has 22 cubic feet of storage space. We may find that a bit too little when RV #2 goes to Alaska, but so far it is plenty. We have a Dometic chest refrigerator/freezer that fits a storage bay that we can add for Alaska to augment the refrigerator or freezer space. Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Our 17′ TT has a 6 cu ft LP/110 fridge, the freezer has a separate door, which means a colder freezer. It works very well. It has enough capacity for us, we can take a good portion of our food for a 2 week trip, buying fresh veggies, etc. too. (We freeze meals at home). We spent the 20 camping years before the TT using coolers, so for us, this is luxury. In 10 years, we’ve had a couple of interesting packing puzzles for the fridge, but it’s good space.
Our TT came with dual full height (not residential deep) absorption refrigerator freezers. We have ever only used one – the other frig is used for fairly bug & rodent proof dry storage. We live in this TT seasonally – like 6 months FT. Yes, you have to give some thought about what and how much you put in the one refrigerator & freezer. We do our shopping pretty much weekly. The rule with cold drink bottles or cans is very few in the frig – put one in from the pantry if you take one out.
Our last MH had a residential fridge. Took away allllllll of the worries and stress connected with an RV fridge. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
In 49 years of RVing I don’t remember us ever saying that the refrigerator is too big.
