How much of July did you spend in your RV?

Happy August! AUGUST?! Yep. Where did the time go? Summer is flying by (wahhhh).

We hope you had a wonderful July—a month of campfires and s’mores and hot dogs and beaches and funky tan lines and BBQs and chlorine and sunsets and ice cream and… well, you get the point. It’s one of the best months of all!

This July, how much time did you spend in your RV? Did you go out for just one weekend trip with the family? Did you spend about a week camping somewhere? Two weeks on a road trip? Three weeks? The whole month? Or did you not spend any time in your RV in July?

After you vote, will you leave a comment and tell us about where you went in July? If you went to more than one place, just tell us about your favorite. We’d love to hear. And now… Go have fun in August!

Unfortunately for us, I have had to go through Radiation treatments from June 25th through August 19th. So we missed out on most of our summer. If we could have gone, we would have been to our 5th Wheel, on Lake Chatuge, in NC. It is set up permanently and we would have been there for the whole Summer! Trials and tribulations of age! We are going as soon as I am done with the treatments. I hope everyone has had a great summer season.

My thoughts are with you Ed. I had open heart surgery at the end of January, and finished up my cardio rehab in the middle of June. My doctor says all is well and I’m good to get back out and travel again.
I’m sure you’ll be hearing the same thing too after your treatments. Blessings from our household to yours on a speedy recovery

Good luck with your treatments, Ed. I hope you have the best possible results and can get back to your RV as soon as possible. (BTW, I have a neighbor, 56, who was diagnosed with very advanced cancer about a year ago, with not a very good prognosis. Well, guess what? He’s back at work and doing very well! Woo hoo!) Take care.🤗 –Diane at RVtravel.com

Hi, Tom. I’m sorry the poll didn’t show up for you. Almost a thousand folks have participated as of when I’m writing this, so it may be something to do with your device. Sometimes it just takes a long time to load. Or, as one of our IT folks said awhile ago: “Sometimes script blockers and ad blockers interfere with our polls since they are from a 3rd party site. If you have one of these try and turn it off and see if that fixes the issue.” Good luck, and have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

We are full timers living in our 45’ coach spending the summer in the Smokies in western NC. We rented an 18’ ALiner and took a trip on the entirety of the Blue Ridge Parkway and beyond onto Skyline Drive in Shenandoah NP. It was a wonderful trip with gorgeous scenery, but quite a change to go from our big motorcoach to a small trailer!

We did both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive on our motorcycle many years ago. A beautiful way/place to spend some of your summer.

Not during July in Texas!

spend time in the RV? In July? In South Texas? Well I didn’t go camping. I spent a lot of time in and on and around my RV doing maintenance, etc. I worked on one to get it sold, sold it and bought another. The “new” RV Needed (still needs) a lot of maintenance and repair and loving. So I did not sleep or go any place but spent a lot of time getting to know the new (old) girl. In fall, when the temps drop below 95-100 we will venture forth!

My wife’s family owns a lakeside summer-only cottage (built in the 1940’s). And July & August are beautiful months here (good luck finding unreserved spots in local RV parks). Why go elsewhere – especially when all your close friends and relatives come here? When we have a larger than normal group at the cottage, we give up our bedroom and haul the RV out. Only 20A electric, but we only use it as a glorified bedroom.

We live in central Texas — too hot to RV in July and August. It’s actually too hot everywhere! Why do it then when we have the rest of the year to do so.

Tommy Molnar

Since we can’t get into our local state parks anymore without reservations, and it’s been hotter than heck lately so even boondocking is out, we went nowhere in July. I refuse to take a generator just so I can sit inside the trailer in coolness. What’s the point?

We live in the Northwest so summer has been hotter than a pistol and air is full of wildfire smoke…not only that the FS chased most folks out of campgrounds so there is very few options. People who call climate change a hoax need to experience some of it.

Forest Fires do NOT equal climate change. You saying so, doesn’t make it true either! Many forest fires are started by Humans. Some with careless fire pits and some by arsonists! You have no proof to back your claim up either!

Bad forest management = Wildfires.

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 We were in the RV the last 4 days of the month, heading home today (8/1). Too many family constraints to have spent more. 🤔 We’ll head out again in about 4 weeks. Should get a lot of mowing done between now and then. 🙂 Meanwhile, thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

Two factors lead to no camping; 1) Heatwave & 2) Pickup broke down when the heatwave broke.

I stay home during touron season. There are just too many rude and inconsiderate people populating campgrounds these days. Many seem to have to live up to their highest levels of self-importance. Very sad how inconsiderate our population has become with the “ME FIRST, ME FIRST”, entitlement minded, “rules don’t apply to me” attitudes.

Since we can’t travel due my wife’s health, doesn’t mean I don’t use the motor home. I spend about 2 hours each late afternoon with two beers and the evening news. If I didn’t have to be in house often, I could use it as a private bedroom or retreat away from home. (Guess that is what I am using it for – but only a couple hours a day!).

I’m inspired by your dedication to your wife and for making the best of what has to be a very trying situation. My thoughts are with you both.

We live in Colorado and don’t use the RV when school is out. Too many flatlanders with their teens on loud OHVs and trail bikes speeding around the campgrounds and “jeep” roads. Much more enjoyable camping in the mountains when the families have gone home, the weather cools, the browns are chasing the kokanee upstream on the Gunnison, and the aspen are turning gold!

Our stix and brix is in the country in the northern tier of states. We did use the rig for additional sleeping space when family visited, but we just enjoy where we live during the summer. If it’s hot we have AC, if it rains we are dry. When it’s just right we enjoy our wooded acreage. Come winter, it’s another story. We’ll be spending all of January, February and March in the rig.

Since we aren’t tied to a school schedule, we do most of our traveling in spring and fall. We did go out with our kids/grandkids for a week, though.

We would still be on the road, boiling in heat, and enjoying the open road, but the safety recall on our Montana 3121RL stove changed our plans. Drove back to Colorado, made an appointment for the safety recall at Lazy Days service center. And now we wait.
