When you’re out on the road RVing, do you tend to gain or lose weight? Or do you stay about the same?
We could see the answers to this poll going in any direction. On the one hand, you might eat out more or cook more “fun” foods (like hot dogs and s’mores!) while RVing. But on the other hand, maybe you’re camped at a national park and spend your days hiking way more than you ever would at home.
The RVing lifestyle can throw off your usual eating and exercise routines, making weight changes a real possibility. Long travel days might mean relying on fast food or gas station snacks, which can add up over time. Or, you might find yourself trying all the local food specialties at each new stop.
Conversely, if you have a well-stocked RV kitchen, RVing can also provide an opportunity to experiment with healthier, home-cooked meals since you’re not rushing around like you might be in your everyday life.
Activity levels also play a significant role. Some RVers find that their travel lifestyle inspires them to be more active, whether that’s biking around campgrounds, exploring scenic trails, or simply moving more as they set up camp. Others may find the opposite, spending more time relaxing in camp chairs and enjoying the slower pace of life.
The real question is, does RVing make you more indulgent, more active, or a mix of both? Does it result in weight gain, loss, or do you stay about the same? Let us know in the comments!

When camping we tend to be more active and don’t eat as much as when we are home. We have a small camping trailer and don’t have a large fridge or freezer so we don’t have all the snacks available to us.
I agree, I can’t run to the store every time I get a “hankering” for something I don’t need. I tend to pack healthier foods and we are more active than usual.
Being snowbirds, we for the most part, avoid ‘hibernation’ season. Wintering in the RV, we don’t have a yard for the dog and have to go for walks several times a day. RVs require maintenance and we have an active social circle. Our home was built in 1906 and like a lot of the elderly, has more maintenance needs than newer homes. It keeps me busy all summer.
Stays about the same, couple pounds up, couple pounds down. Moderation seems to be the main course daily, and the older you get the less you eat. As my grandmother would say, “eyes of a dinner plate, appetite of a bird”.

My husband and I have been full time for almost 10 years. When we started this journey, we stocked healthy food, increased our exercise and limited our eating out to special occasions or local specialties. He has lost a total of 72 lbs and I have lost 132. Guess rving has been a great lifestyle for us.
