Today’s poll isn’t exactly RV-related, but don’t blame us for being curious about YOU—the person who comes and hangs out with us every day!
So tell us: Have you ever won an athletic trophy? If so, great job! If not, congratulations, you’re just like us! Wink.
Maybe you were a track star back in high school, a bowling league champion, or the unexpected hero of a weekend softball tournament. Some trophies are hard-earned over years of dedication, while others come from a single lucky moment—like that time you hit the game-winning shot or managed to stay upright the longest in a chaotic game of dodgeball.
Of course, not all victories come with shiny awards. Some of us take pride in personal achievements, like finally nailing that tricky yoga pose or hiking a grueling trail without giving up. But if you’ve got an actual trophy sitting on a shelf (or buried in a storage bin somewhere), we’d love to hear the story behind it.
And hey, even if you’ve never won an athletic trophy, maybe you’ve earned a different kind of award—a blue ribbon at a chili cook-off, a quirky office contest victory, or even a childhood prize for the best sandcastle. That’s not what we’re asking about today, but still, great job! (And hey, can we have some of that chili?)
After you vote, please feel free to leave a comment and tell us what your trophy was for.

It was for bowling! Not sure if that counts lol.
Quite a few bowling trophies. I was in a men’s major league that visited local bowling lanes.
Our home bowling center had 32 lanes.
In my teen years, I competed in singles and couples roller skating, figures and dance
Little league Baseball
I wasn’t into sports. I spent my time working because coming from a poor family I wanted the better things in life.
Exactly. I got along well with my classmates. At my 50th HS reunion, a couple of the cheerleaders remembered that I was never at events outside the school day. I politely pointed out that all through HS I worked 20-30 hours a week.
And you are better off for it…welcome to the club.
Ditto. I’ve worked since I was 12. During school, I worked evenings and weekends. During summer, I worked 7 days/evenings a week. So I’ve been working for 66 years, still going strong, and loving it here at RV Travel. Have a great day, J B, Jim, and mrpavet. 😀 –Diane
Lots of Belt Sander Racing trophies but, I guess, those aren’t considered “athletic”
First place in a bicycle race put on by my church when I was in 7th grade. I had a Puch-Bergmeister 10 speed with 28″ wheels. Our race was through the hills in San Pedro, Ca in 1967.
I’ve been a runner and cyclist throughout my life, I ran competitively for a while and took a few trophies.
I have been involved in archery for about 55 years, even working in an archery pro shop for a time. As a young man I spent almost every spare moment shooting bow & arrow. I shoot field archery, which is 28 targets at varying distances on a trail in the woods, kind of like a golf course. Competition consists of shooting 4 arrows per target, each from a different “stake” or position relative to that target. Distances are from 10 to 80 yards. We have shot at ranges in several states.
Over the years both my wife and I were fortunate to have collected numerous wins and trophies. Perhaps our marriage the best one since we met because of archery.
Like others here, I was not a High School athlete. Snow skiing was my passion and I won a downhill slalom event. We raised one grandson who was a very gifted athlete. Won lots of ribbons and trophies, that made little or no difference in his life. Pushing yourself to success, when the odds are against you, is much more satisfying.
1977 Girls Highschool Singles State Bowling Champion and 1980 girls Southwest Conference Singles Badminton champion. Received invitation to try out for USA Olympic team in badminton but Carter cancelled US participation in Moscow Olympics.
1959 Sacramento County Boys’ Table Tennis Champion.
A couple racing motocross. A long long time ago
I’ve only won one trophy, at an annual corporate weekend event. I evidently must have been rather athletic as I won “The Best Nightlife” trophy. As to How, What, When, or Why, I do not recall, and did not recall even as I walked up to the podium the next morning for the presentation by the corporate president.
🤣 Maybe it’s best that you don’t remember, Kelly. Might have been too embarrassed to show your face again, otherwise.🫣😆 Have a good evening/night.🤗 –Diane
“Ahh, those were the days, my friend, I thot they’d never end.” But it is good they did.
🤣👍 Been there, done that…and survived (and never even got arrested🤫)! Have a good night, Kelly.🤗 –Diane
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! Several trophies for placing or winning my age group in running road races and a few outright victories. Two of these have places of honor in our house. Have a great day and safe travels!
The best I ever did was a second in a fencing tournament. I missed first place by one touch.
I used to compete in karate tournaments and won a few trophies in Kata, including weapons, and kumite fighting for points. A favorite was a bringing home a second place in kumite along with two broken ribs. Painful then, funny now.
Yikes! Sounds very painful, Dan. I’ve had several broken ribs, among other things, and I’ll tell you what’s been the worst…a broken sternum (twice). I think a large portion of our bodies are somehow attached to the sternum, i.e., almost every movement is painful. I’m glad you at least got a trophy to go along with the pain.👍 Have a good night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Trophies: Golf (hole-in-one), tennis and bowling.
No trophies. Lousy at sports. Have seen many friends, that never got over their “glory days”.
Best “trophy” I ever received was my “Best Nono Ever” Yeti cup!
It’s the first thing I pack for a trip!!
Not an actual trophy, but loads of ribbons, a couple jars & a cute wooden “Top Dog” through. After we retired to rural Montana we discovered dog agility & rally with our new dog. The shorts keep us active physically & mentally. And we are doing well at it. We now have 2 dogs & both of us compete in both sports.
No trophies; participation was not a thing back then.
