Happy Labor Day! Feels like yesterday that we were wishing you a good Memorial Day, doesn’t it? Summer sped by, as it always does, in the blink of an eye. Sigh.
But, alas, our beloved summer months have come and gone and now it’s time to start thinking about our fall clothes, our leaf-peeping day trips and our pumpkin lattes and hot apple ciders.
For many RVers, Labor Day also marks that seasonal shift between busy summer travel and the quieter fall months. Kids are back in school, so campgrounds often clear out a bit after this weekend, which can make September and October some of the best times to hit the road—cooler nights, less crowded parks, and plenty of small-town festivals and fairs to discover.
Are you doing anything special for Labor Day this year? A family BBQ or get-together perhaps? One final trip to the beach?
Will you be traveling with your RV today, parked at an RV park or campground, or is your RV tucked away for now (or for a while) and you’re at your sticks-and-bricks?
Please tell us in the poll below and leave a comment, too, if you feel like sharing what you’re up to. Thanks, and enjoy your day! (We hope you get to eat a hot dog… or something!)
MORE POLLS YOU MIGHT ENJOY:
- How often do you eat a hot dog?
- If offered a hot dog, hamburger or pizza, what would you most times choose?
- How often do you cook outside (grill, BBQ, campfire cooking, etc.)?
- Out of these options, which is your favorite BBQ food?

Holidays we will stay put, always have always will. Just don’t like all the traffic and those out driving while having decided to drink and those driving in excess of the speed limit. But, everyone please have safe travels through the holiday.
I agree. Holiday’s are for the amateur’s & weekend warrior’s, and I avoid being out on the roads/highways at all costs.
Might go to the Manitu Restaurant if they are open today. Need to go to their WEB Site later today and see what their hours are and what days of the week they are open. Only about 3-4 miles from Platte River Campground.
Driving to a campground.
We try to avoid public areas on holidays. Probably mow the lawn today.
If you need another one to mow, I can send an address…just sayin’. 😉🙂
Prepping the motorhome to launch Wednesday for a 30 day trip to the Oregon coast.
Our TT is in the driveway getting loaded for our last trip of the season. Doing some minor repairs.
When we get back in late September it will be winterized and put in storage. Can’t trust the weather after that here in Western PA.
Will have a juicy steak on the grill, along with a beer.
Not laboring. And, staying off the Interstate.
Our house is near Lake Superior. My wife’s family has a summer-only 80 year-old beach cottage. By Labor Day, most of the biting insects are gone, the water is reasonably warm, and the heavy rush of family tourists has departed. It is a wonderful quiet break before fall color tourism kicks in. Winter tourism is also big, but we will be living in our RV in Texas by then.
Spent the weekend camping out and launching rockets at our clubs launch site in Colorado’s San Luis Valley. Heading home today (Labor Day).
Quick swim in the lake early this a.m. with my pooch, then burgers on the bbq for lunch, and hopefully a baseball game on TV this afternoon/evening. We do lead a happy and exciting life!
Working!
In Knoxville and going to the Mighty Wurlitzer organ concert at the Tennessee theater. All patriotic music and free!!
Just taking it easy in the campground of our favorite local regional park for another day. We always come in on Thursday and leave on Tuesday for Memorial & Labor Day Holidays. Our oldest daughter & SIL are packing up their popup camper and will be pulling out soon. Maybe a paddle in the canoe later this afternoon.
Camping at Shawnee State Park, PA. We arrive 1 week before Labor Day and stay for 2 weeks, avoiding the traffic.
I got up this morning with nothing planned for today and I expect to be finished by noon!!!
Celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary!
Happy Anniversary, Marie and hubby!🍾 Have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Congrats…still Newlyweds!!! 😉😆
Something else. Pacific Northwest. Blowing the fir needles off the roof before it starts raining for the season. Very dry summer…lots of needles.
Normally we have a small family bbq, but this year I’m going on my first ever solo RV trip. I want to learn the systems without my husband’s help. It’s only a 2 night trip. Set up didn’t go smoothly but that is part of the process for learning.
Family came for the long weekend. We’re staying in Wears Valley, TN, have season passes for Dollywood (granddaughter’s favorite place) so we all went. They’re starting prep work for Luminights pumpkin walk. With all the people who had to go home today, it wasn’t super busy… very enjoyable.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day!
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! We went to a neaby park on the water, walked around with dog #3, had lunch, bought fudge, returned to the campground and ate it, spent much of the rest of the afternoon watching a river flow by our campground. Have a great week and safe travels!
Cutting down 2 nearly dead red pine trees.
We went out for lunch then went Ax Throwing. It was a fun and relaxing day.
A “relAXing” day, huh?😉 Have a good night, Cheryl. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
