Popular Oregon coast campground set for significant closures in June

One of the Oregon coast’s most popular campgrounds will once again see closures, smack in the middle of the 2025 travel season. Making the situation all the more troublesome, Beverly Beach State Park just reopened last August after an 11-month shutdown. Have the park in your travel planner? Listen up.

Oregon coast campground closure details

Beverly Beach State Park’s creekside campground is one of the largest in the state. Many campsites are just a short walk from miles of ocean beach that stretch from Yaquina Head to Otter Rock. The campground, sheltered by a forest, is home to towering, wind-sculpted trees and nurse logs. Spencer Creek flows through the campground, making it even more attractive.

If you’re planning a visit to Beverly Beach State Park this coming summer, it’s a good idea to double-check the dates before making a reservation. Major sections of the campground will be closed for construction throughout June. Here are the details:

Throughout June, crews will focus on repaving the campground’s main road, which will require temporary closures of various campground loops, according to a news release from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Specifically, loops C, D, E, F, G, and H will be closed for the entire month of June. Loops A and B will be closed from June 15-30. All campground loops are expected to reopen on July 1, just in time for the peak summer season. Reservations for campsites can be made online at oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com.

The 2023 – 2024 Oregon coast campground closure allowed crews to install underground power lines and replace outdated waterlines, significantly upgrading the park’s infrastructure. The 2025 closures will hopefully bring complete closure to the renovation work.

The park’s day-use area, which features picnic tables and a reservable yurt for group gatherings, will remain open throughout the construction process. This will allow visitors to enjoy at least some of the park’s amenities without disruption.

Gotta keep these campgrounds updated for all the tourists who spend lots of money…not the native Oregonians who have a hard time trying to get into these places anymore. Perhaps raising the out of state fees is needed more.

I thought they did raise fees for out-of-state campers.

YES Oregon has raised fees for out of State visitors. Just like many other states are doing. Their Tourist Departments go to the other states to encourage travel to your state so the state residents can complain for lack of campgrounds etc. It’s getting to the point traveling will be very costly. Do the states want you to stay home?

Thank you, Russ and Tina! Good to know. Might be thereabouts in September, if there is any availability. I guess we’ll see. Happy new year and safe travels! 🙂
