Heads up if you’re planning a Rocky Mountain National Park adventure. The Park Service will be closing Wild Basin Road later this month. While the closure will affect everyone, including vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians, it’s only temporary.
Four-day closure of Wild Basin Road
Wild Basin Road will be closed for road maintenance from July 23 through July 26. The closure begins at the Wild Basin Entrance Station and runs as far as the Wild Basin Trailhead.
Why so popular?

Wild Basin Trail is one of the park’s most popular hiking destinations. Along the trail are several waterfalls, including Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades, and Ouzel Falls.
Described as a family-friendly hike, the elevation climb along the trail is less than 900 feet. Calypso Cascades is less than two miles from the trailhead, and the trail is a major wildflower show-off.
Wild Basin Road will be repaired by adding gravel and grading to fix ruts, potholes, and drainage issues. All this, according to a news release from the Park Service.
