RV debut: 2027 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 25FK X-L—wide open spaces

Today’s RV review is of the new-for-2027 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 25FK X-L travel trailer. This model is so new that it hasn’t been featured on their website as of this writing, but I was able to get a sneak peek recently. Not only is this a new floorplan for the Alpha Wolf family, but this new model also shows a number of new features for the Cherokee brand in general.

Start at the road with the Cherokee Alpha Wolf 25FK X-L

Where the rubber meets the road, this trailer uses an off-brand tire and a simple leaf-spring suspension. This may be fine for the majority of campers who only take their RVs out once in a while and not far away.

The underbelly is fully enclosed and heated, which enables you to use the trailer through more of the shoulder season. I really like how Cherokee plumbed the front kitchen gray tank into the same dump connection as the back gray and black tanks and uses a valve that’s really easy to open. Nice touch!

There is a decent storage compartment on the road side in the space that’s essentially behind the refrigerator, and a larger compartment at the front. That front compartment has the solar controller. There’s also an intentional hole in the floor with a cap so that those who want to run Starlink or other items from outside the RV to the compartment have a provision to do so.

I like this way of accommodating Starlink the best, and you could run a power extension cord from the 120vac outlet in the front compartment to something outside, as well. Two thumbs up on this.

There’s also a metal shelf in the compartment where you could mount the Starlink router, if that’s the way you’re going. But this is just nice to have.

There are plenty of windows in this RV. You’ll notice that the surfaces of the windows have a mirrored look to the tinting, helping them keep things cool inside even on warmer days.

Step inside the Cherokee Alpha Wolf 25FK X-L

Climbing up the new Suburban-branded solid steps into the trailer, you’re immediately aware of how spacious this RV feels. The front space is the kitchen and living space, and there’s a counter right at the entrance with two counter-height stools.

Directly under one of those is a large cubby for shoes, and there’s also a closet right at the entrance for jackets and whatnot.

The counterspace in here, which is used for dining and the kitchen, is huge. For those who want an RV with an enormous counter, this would be a great choice.

There’s the usual three-burner propane stovetop, but only a convection air fryer microwave, which I do prefer over the 17” oven. Overhead is a high-performance vent fan.

There are plenty of drawers here as well as a lot of cabinet space, and there’s even a tip-out cabinet that incorporates a trash can.

Behind the stove is a metal shelf that has three household power outlets in it. It would be a good place for spices and such.

Opposite the kitchen is the 12-volt refrigerator, which shares the slide room with a two-place recliner. That recliner directly faces the TV on the other side of the dining bar.

With the front windshield, side windows, and interior colors, this really feels open, spacious, and pleasant.

Bedroom in the Cherokee Alpha Wolf 25FK X-L

Moving back into the rig, you get to the bedroom where the bed itself is in a road-side slide. That means that there are plenty of cabinets and drawers on the camp side of the bedroom, including a larger compartment that incorporates hanging storage as well as provisions for a washer-dryer system.

I’m seeing more and more travel trailers with washer-dryer hookups, including this one. It’s a nice option to have if you’re traveling a lot.

Bathroom in the Cherokee Alpha Wolf 25FK X-L

With one glaring exception, the bathroom in this trailer is quite the home run. There’s a very large shower that has a seat molded into it, which is a surprising touch in a more affordable travel trailer. I like that they are using a shower curtain instead of a glass shower door, and there is a high-performance vent fan in the ceiling. All pluses.

There is also good storage, which is a big plus.

There is a plastic sink, which is fine, to me, and about what you’d expect in a more affordable RV.

The big bummer in here is the toilet, which is a plastic model instead of the ceramic found in many RVs nowadays. What I don’t like about these is that they tend to be noisy when you’re seated on them, and they are more challenging to keep looking clean.

On the plus side, however, this toilet and the rest of the plumbing in this RV are proper PEX fittings with PEX clamps, which are much less prone to leaking than the flexible tubing that had been common in the past. I also saw individual shut-off valves for major plumbing items. That’s outstanding. In terms of the plumbing itself, I was really pleased with what I saw.

A new RV monitoring system

This is the first RV where I’ve seen the new monitoring and control system that will be ubiquitous throughout the Cherokee RV family. This new system is exclusive to the Cherokee brand for the next two years and incorporates a touch screen right at the entrance.

As with other screen-based control systems, this one will enable you to operate lights, monitor tank levels, battery reserves, and more.

You can synch smartphones to this and take advantage of either Apple CarPlay or Bluetooth Audio so you can more easily enjoy the StressLess Camping RV podcast. You can also control and monitor the systems that this system controls.

The nice thing about how Cherokee did this is that they also include a number of physical buttons throughout the rig so you can control lights and such from sources other than the touch screen or your smartphone.

This system also controls the heater and air conditioner in this trailer, which, again, lets you do so on your phone or tablet, as well.

You can also remotely monitor the RV with your smartphone or tablet app, so you’ll know if it’s hot or cold inside without actually being inside. This is great for pet owners.

A few final thoughts

This is so early in the game on this model that there are some details not available yet.

There was a lot to like in this trailer. If you’re the typical RV owner who only gets to use your rig three to five times a year within about 100 miles of your home, the tires and suspension on here aren’t as big a deal as I make them. You can also upgrade those, and you might as well upgrade the toilet, too, while you’re at it.

Of course, long-time followers will know that I prefer the Goodyear Endurance tires and a better suspension system. You can find a very similar floor plan in the Rockwood Mini Lite 2523MBR or Flagstaff Micro Lite 25MBR with these features, although, granted, it will be higher priced.

There is no floor plan shown. It’s hard to envision the actual layout.
The wardrobe is hanging above a lower cabinet door. A head banger when you are on your hands an knees accessing the lower cabinet, especially with the sharp corners on the wardrobe.
There is a noticeable wrinkle on the roof material near where the wires for the solar enter the roof. The solar wiring is stretched about 3 feet along the roof before entering and doesn’t appear to be secured. The skirting above the wheel is not even at the seam.
all utilities are at the rear. Most campgrounds connections are located at the midpoint of the site.
And no mention of an actual audio (stereo) system.

I was gonna say the same about a lack of floor plan. Also no tank capacities. And a Google search for this model wasn’t anymore helpful.
