Suki the Adventure Cat has probably been to more places than you have
Who doesn’t like to look at cats and kittens on their Pinterest feed? Yes, I’m guilty of trying to de-stress by looking at pictures and videos of cats doing all sorts of silly things, and kittens being just-too-cute. But a month ago I found a cat that was not only photogenic (as Bengal cats are), but also living the dream of traveling all around the world and seemingly having a fabulous camping adventure that any of us would envy. Meet Suki, the Canadian Adventure Cat, and boy does this cat and her owner get around!
Of course, Suki’s owner is a first-rate photographer and adventurer herself, and Suki loves to pose in front of the most breathtaking and beautiful sites they visit together. And while her owner keeps her on a custom harness and leash for safety on dangerous poses, it appears that Suki is content to stay close to her human and not run off into the woods, which is what my own cats would likely do.
What does Suki and her owner have to teach us? Well, first of all it can be super cool to travel with your pet. In an RVtravel survey a while back we discovered that around 50% of our readers travel with their pet(s). And secondly, you need to be a responsible pet owner and keep them properly secured while traveling, and that includes a harness for traveling in your RV. One of my best friends of 40 years even has a custom life jacket and dingy for his dog Bryson for when they go on canoeing adventures.
Lastly, pets really are your extended family members. And just like wanting to have your spouse on an adventure with you, if there’s a safe way to take your 4-legged friend along, then it’s even more fun. And if you find a way to create a Pinterest feed like Suki has with 1.5 million viewers and your own Etsy line of SukiCat accessories, then your passion for camping and hiking can pay for itself while your pet becomes an internet star.
