New RV resort opens in Coachella, California

Just in time for the snowbird rush, a new RV resort in Coachella, California, opens the doors. Coachella Lakes RV Resort held its ribbon-cutting on Monday, December 11.

“A testament to luxury, comfort, and experiential hospitality”

In a florid media release, management touted, “Coachella Lakes RV Resort stands as a testament to luxury, comfort and experiential hospitality.” Cutting to the chase, here’s what your overnight fees will get you.

  • RV sites
  • Vacation rental cabins (for those bereft of an RV)
  • 18-hole world-class putting course
  • Clubhouse
  • 24-hour-access fitness center
  • Heated swimming pool and two hot tubs
  • Amphitheater
  • Playground
  • Five lakes
  • K9 Corner Dog Park
  • Pickleball courts

Fees as might be expected

Returning to the media release: “Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Coachella, the Coachella Lakes RV Resort stands as a testament to luxury, comfort and experiential hospitality. Boasting state-of-the-art amenities, stunning panoramic views and a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience, the resort has quickly become a beacon for travelers seeking a retreat in this dynamic region.” Interestingly, since the doors only opened this week, “quickly becoming a beacon for travelers” is truly amazing.

Fees for overnighting at this new Coachella, California, resort are as might be expected. Front row back-in sites are approximately 75’ in length and 30′-34’ wide. Full hookups are provided, and Wi-Fi and local cable connections are present. These sites are the closest to amphitheater that hosts events and live music. Cost per night (we checked for mid-week availability) are $72, plus a $7 “campground fee,” plus tax. Pull-through sites are provided with the same amenities, and are approximately 80’ in length and 30′-34’ wide. Fees here are $102, plus the $7 “campground fee,” and tax.

Just what is the $7 campground fee? Glad you asked. That’s the fee you’ll pay on a one-time basis for the (apparently not optional) Wi-Fi and “booking fee.”

Coachella, California, is not far from Palm Springs.

Russ and Tiña went from childhood tent camping to RVing in the 1980s when the ground got too hard. They've been tutored in the ways of RVing (and RV repair) by a series of rigs, from truck campers, to a fifth-wheel, and several travel trailers. In addition to writing scores of articles on RVing topics, they've also taught college classes for folks new to RVing. They authored the book, RV Boondocking Basics.

Thanks for the “warning,” Russ and Tina. A nice Corps of Engineers campground is far more appealing to DW and I than this resort is. I guess despite the cost it may bleed off a few people from more conventional campgrounds, slightly easing crowding. 🙂 Safe travels and merry Christmas!

The ten year rule will keep a lot of people out, but then again, some of the RV snobs we’ve encountered will love it!
