Tip of the Day

Do this when you discover an RV rain leak

By Dave Helgeson
Detecting and correcting RV rain leaks is a must for preserving the life of your RV. Water intrusion can result in extensive damage to an RV if left unchecked. As someone who has been around RVs all his life and worked in and owned RV dealerships, checking RVs for rain leaks was one of my top priorities when the rainy season arrived—which, in Western Washington, is most of the year. One thing I learned over all those years of finding and fixing RV rain leaks is that rainwater will always follow the path of least resistance.

2020 Keystone Hideout 17rb

2024 Keystone Hideout 178RB travel trailer—Affordable comfort

By Cheri Sicard
I have to say that for a small, inexpensive travel trailer, the Keystone Hideout 178RB has a lot going for it that would make it a great starter RV. It’s single axle, small, and nimble. There are no slides to break down. It has a lot of great features and a practical floor plan. In the video below we join Tom Peterson of the The RV Corral in Eugene, Oregon, for a tour.

Google Earth helps avoid sharp turns and narrow roads

By Nanci Dixon
Have a big rig? Well, don’t go here! Some places are just not big-rig friendly. Looking for an idyllic off-the-beaten-path campground in Trinidad, California, I found what looked like a little piece of floral heaven! Azalea Glen RV park sounded beautiful. The reviews were amazing. The enticement to drive just a bit out of the way was extreme. So I booked! Continue reading.

Quick Tip

Must-have safety equipment

Prepare for a breakdown or flat on the roadside—carry a set of warning triangles like commercial truckers use. Folding ones don’t take much space, but their reflectors help out at night. Be sure to place them well behind your rig to give traffic plenty of warning of your presence. Thanks to George B. for the tip! (Editor: Here are some on Amazon.)

Trivia

The Walt Disney Company is the largest consumer of fireworks in the U.S. If you’ve been to Disneyland or Walt Disney World, you probably guessed this since you’ve probably been to one of their daily fireworks shows. The annual cost for fireworks amounts to about $50 million.

Enjoyed the trucks!

I tried full time RV for almost 6 months. Nearly lost my mind. So I go north for a few months and then home. I love camping but after 6 months I was ready for my house.

Too much “togetherness” for my wife and me. Also I enjoy working- Licensed Master Plumber going on 55 years.

Not sure we could ever full-time. We enjoy 1 to 3 months at a time maneuvering around the U.S. and Canada, yet always ready to get home to the S&B. Then occasionally we add in an ocean or river cruise somewhere in the world for variety.

I enjoy the RV lifestyle so I believe I could go full time but my wife can only do a max. of 3 months before she is begging me to go back to our S&B. Enjoyment for both of us is important so we just make it work. See you on the road!

Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 The mystery product is a great idea! I want it, but DW says I have enough and that it is self-evident without wearing a shirt saying it. 😉 The laugh/funny was just that. 🙂

We carry and have used our folding reflective triangles, just like the trucker’s use. We also carry some of the red road flares should we ever breakdown during darkness. Not that we often travel when dark, it is just that nothing is more attention getting at distance than a burning red flare where safe to use.

We love to travel in our RV, but 8 weeks at a time is our max. We aren’t willing to give up face-to-face time spent with our church family, kids and grandkids. So, we will never go full time.
