Self-stick hat hooks keep kitchenware in place—brilliant!
We received this email and these photos from reader Kevin S. He wrote, “I was looking for an alternative to the expensive, heavy and space consuming Rev-A-Shelf drawer peg system for stopping dishes from sliding around while underway. I found these self-stick hat hooks on Amazon. They work fantastically and cost a fraction of the Rev-A-Shelf product. Using these you also don’t lose any drawer depth because of a 3/4” plywood base.”
Brilliant idea, Kevin! Thank you for sharing!

Ask Dave
Follow-up to “Why do RV slides only work when plugged into tow vehicle…?” Rich found the answer!
Back in January we posted a question from Rich with an issue of his jacks, awning, and slides not working. Here’s his original question:
Dear Dave,
My slides will only work when plugged into my vehicle. They will not work with shore power or battery. Is there a switch I’m missing somewhere? Thanks in advance. —Richard, 2015 Wildwood 32KQBTS

The new Capri Camper Cowboy truck camper—Built for the apocalypse?
By Cheri Sicard
The video below from the survivalist YouTube channel Copper Mutant (Post Apocalyptic Survival) might have an unusual presentation style, but it nonetheless gives us a good look at the Capri Camper Cowboy truck camper, a rugged rig ready for adventure. Our host, who frequently asks his viewers if they are ready for the apocalypse, says he feels more ready now that he has his Capri Camper Cowboy truck camper.

The absolute BEST WAY to buy an RV and why
By Cheri Sicard
Michigan attorney Steve Lehto produced this video as a follow-up solution to the lack of rights RV buyers have when buying new RVs. (RV Travel reported on some of the scandalous practices and a recent lawsuit victory here.) In my opinion, the advice in this video is right on the money. So if you are in the market for an RV, follow Steve’s advice on the best way to buy an RV and save yourself potential headaches.
Doctor’s order: Coffee!
This coffee mug is hilarious! It’s perfect for yourself or the coffee-lover in your life who just cannot live without coffee. This high-quality mug is made from ceramic and painted to look like a prescription pill bottle – it’s just what the doctor ordered! You can’t order this from a barista, but you can order one here.
Feeling a little… grumpy… in the RV park showers
Awhile ago, Cheri Sicard collected your stories recalling the weirdest RVing encounter you’ve ever had. Frequent contributor Rod Andrew wrote in and sent us his own tale. It’s very weird all right… and a little grumpy. Read about Rod’s strangely “grumpy” encounter here.

Quick Tip
Keep a hose just for dumping tanks
Dedicate a hose strictly for use in tank-dumping operations. Use it for rinsing hoses, flushing tanks, etc. But be sure to keep it completely away from your fresh water hose to prevent cross-contamination. If you can, find a suitable container to keep it safely stored.
?? MYSTERY PRODUCT OF THE DAY ??
Does your partner have a hard time hearing when you ask them to complete a chore? Do you know someone who has “selective hearing”? Do your grandkids sometimes not listen to your rules? Well, this will solve all those problems! And you’ll laugh like heck about it!

Drive Weather App
From reader Jim J.: “Drive Weather is my new cross-country pal. Put in start location, end location and dial-in start time. A route will be shown (so far, close to my intended route) with temp, wind and precipitation forecast along the route for the time you are likely to reach that point. You can do the same thing with many weather apps’ daily/hourly settings and picking multiple cities along your route, but this is MUCH faster.” Thanks, Jim!
And the Survey Says…
We’ve polled RVtravel.com readers more than 2,500 times in recent years. Here are a few things we’ve learned about them:
• 57 percent say they are a morning person, not a night person.
• 10 percent feel their RV is too small.
• 27 percent attend a church service at least once a week.
Recipe of the Day
Creamy Crock Pot Hash Browns
by Penny R from Atoka, TN
Now, these are some creamy Crock Pot potatoes. Once you cook the bacon, everything is dumped into the slow cooker, so it’s an easy dish to prep. Super cheesy and full of flavor (and bacon bits!), these are good enough for the holidays or an easy side dish for a weeknight meal. You could even serve leftovers for breakfast.
Trivia
Bald eagles have approximately 7,000 waterproof feathers which “zip” together to keep them warm and dry in cold, wet weather.

Drive Weather is a cranky app. Does not go past end user disclaimer. Great idea, apparently not prime time.
Tom, did you use the free version or the (small one-time fee) paid version? The free version is sizzle and a taste. The paid version is solid meat.
The book in the daily laugh is actually the “RV Dealers Guide to Completing an RV Purchase Invoice.” You agree to pay five bananas but the invoice they present is for six!😉😆
🤣
The quick tip is spot on. We carry one of the expandable hoses for this purpose. It fits in a small plastic container.
Ours is black to remind us it’s only purpose.
Mine has duct tape on the ends for the same reminder.
Great way to remember
dedicated dump water hose: we are still talking about a hose that more often than not connects to a potable water source. Add a backflow preventer to that hose. Not only will it protect the water source, it will release the line pressure when you turn off the tap so you can unhook the hose without spraying water all over.
The video about a genius way to buy an RV is spot on. After buying two new RV’s I have learned the hard, and expensive way to quit making those mistakes. Used only from now on and cherry pick the unit you are looking at…if the seller does not like what you are doing…walk away.
Thank you, Emily and Diane! Teddy is very cute and vigilant. The funny was just that. I guess they should have hired you to proof-read their book, Diane. No way you would have missed that error! 🙂
Unless I had been smoking banana peels.😉 Remember that hoax back in the ’60s? Have a great day, Neal.🍌🐒 –Diane
I cannot imagine a banana-peel-induced haze being sufficient for six to appear to be five, or your haste to take another hit of the smoldering peel(s) causing you to miscount six as five, Diane. 😉 Thank you! 🙂
😅 Thanks for the vote of confidence, Neal.👍 –Diane
Anytime, Diane, anytime. 🙂
You’re too kind, and very generous, Neal. Always. This world needs more people like you.👍 🤗 –Diane
Thank you, Diane! I think similarly of you. 🙂 (However, should you and DW talk at any great length, then you may think somewhat differently.) 😉
😊 Thanks, Neal. All of us at RVtravel.com who read your comments and/or meet you, plus our readers who read your comments, have a different opinion than your wife. Therefore, her opinion is waaaay outnumbered and isn’t worth diddly squat (as my dad used to say).🤣 Take care. 😀 –Diane
You’re very welcome, Diane! I am pleased if I have a beneficial effect in these parts. I certainly enjoy the sense of community that I find here. My only disappointment is that I have met so few of those regularly here, whether writers or commenting readers. Hopefully that will change by some measure in the coming months, miles. 🙂 As to the lack of consequence of DW’s opinion … 🤔😯😄😆😂🤣
About the advertisement for the Camco water filter, 100 micron filtering means you still have to strain the water through your teeth to stop the big chunks. Actually the specifications for that filter say 20 micron, quite a bit better. For a little higher cost I use a 1 micron filter. It’s worth a little more to save my valves and faucet screens.
I keep my hose(s) coiled and stored in reusable shopping bags. Light weight and have handles too. Stores flat on the floor or hangs on a compartment sidewall hook. (Connect the ends, especially, if you can’t drain the hose).
