This app lets you read historical markers without even stopping
By Chris Guld, GeeksOnTour.com
From the Oregon Trail in Wyoming, to George Washington’s boyhood home in the Chesapeake, we’ve driven by a lot of historical markers in our motorhome. I’m always curious when I see the sign, but rarely enough to pull over. So, I use the app called “Explore Here.” Just open it up to the homepage, and I see a category called “Nearby.” If we just passed a marker, it will show up in this section. I’ve been impressed with how complete it is. It uses the Historical Marker Database (HMdb.org) as its source.
Ask Dave
Why does my 2007 trailer have water damage in the middle of the floor?
Dear Dave,
I just recently purchased this used camper. It has been sitting in my yard since the last of February with no water going to it or the septic tank. The refrigerator is not hooked up, either. It felt like the floor under the linoleum was soft. I just pulled the linoleum up tonight. I understand why I have a couple wet spots near the walls. However, I do not know why the floor in the middle of the room is wet. I know I have to replace the whole floor. Yet, I do not wish to do so until I find out what is going on for fear it will only rot in the middle of the room again. —Kristy, 2007 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite

By Cheri Sicard
In [this video] we join Parker of Parker’s POV for a tour of the 2023 inTech O-V-R Expedition travel trailer. Parker made the video for a customer who was driving a long distance to buy this trailer, but as it is brand-new, that customer’s walk-through can also show others interested in the inTech O-V-R Expedition travel trailer what it is like.
With a whopping cargo carrying capacity of 7,200 pounds, this little trailer can carry a LOT of gear and supplies!

9 must-see wacky and weird Midwest roadside attractions
By Cheri Sicard
Anyone planning any RV trips to or in the U.S. Midwest should take a look at the video below from Kelly and Kevin, aka The Awkward Tourists, and schedule some fun, wacky, and weird Midwest attractions along the way.
The couple recently flew to Ohio to buy a car. They took some time to road-trip home and in this video, they were stopping at as many weird Midwest roadside attractions as they could find. And they found some good ones. Some of the popular ones you may have heard of before, but they managed to unearth a few I hadn’t—and I love this kind of stuff!

Serious consequences await those without proper RV insurance
By Randall Brink
Do you have proper RV insurance? The question is not as simple as it sounds, and the answer depends to a great extent on what you have told your insurance company. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard RVers admit that they have deceived their insurance company. The dialogue usually goes something like this: “Which insurance company do you use?” Full-time RVer: “We just switched to ACME.” “What’s ACME charging for full-timers?” Full-timer: “Oh, I never told them we’re full-time…” Continue reading this very important information, whether you full-time RV or not.

Quick Tip
What to do if your RV bumper scrapes when entering/exiting a parking lot
If your RV bumper scrapes when entering or exiting a parking lot or other driveway, try taking the exit with your rig at an angle rather than straight on. Still no help? You may want to add skid wheels to the back of your trailer. Two types: bolt on and weld on. The former sometimes tear off, so the added hassle of finding a welding shop may be worth the trouble.

Trivia
Ever since Amazon launched its “Alexa” in 2014-2015, the name for baby girls has been dropping. In 2022, only 574 baby girls were named Alexa in the U.S., the lowest since 1986. If you have a daughter named Alexa, whose attention do you get when you call “Alexa”?
Readers’ Pet of the Day
“One of my favorite pics of our beloved dog, Abbie, (Shepherd/Lab mix) on our first camping trip with our (then) 3-year-old granddaughter, Elli. Abbie was 16 when she passed recently, and we’ll soon be faced with camping without her. She will be greatly missed. I’d say the best cure for our broken hearts is to camp more often with our grandchildren.” —Dana Eulert
We are so sorry for the loss of your Abbie, Dana. Camping with her will be one of life’s sweetest memories.

Unfortunately, the Explore Here app doesn’t seem to be available in Android.
I opened up the app and it is sponsored by viator. I did see another app called history near you. It seems there are a lot of apps that mention historical makers. Viator does collect information from your phone. So downloader beware.
Everything collects info from our phones. Never could understand why a spell-checker (or anything else for that matter) needs access to your contacts or your photos . . .
My wife used Viator to schedule whale watching tour in Cape May. Now she gets constant emails from them. Even unsubscribing doesn’t help.
She should be able to block them, Bob. (Sometimes folks don’t realize they can do that with emails.) Good luck! Have a good night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Abbie will be with you on all your camping trips in your heart and memories…that is everlasting…don
Thank you so much♥️
So sorry for your loss of Abbie, hold onto your memories, they truly are a member of the family, hugs
Thank you for your kind, and very true, words.
Dana sorry to hear about your loss. Abbie is beautiful. When we lost our beagle of 13 years it hurt but she still travels with us in her beautiful wooden urn. It has given some help in easing the pain in knowing she still is traveling for the good life.
Thank you so very much.♥️
Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 You always do a nice job, but today seems unusually good. 🙂 Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
