Save-a-Step stabilizes RV steps; no more bouncing!

By Gail Marsh
Boing! Boiiing! That’s the sound we used to hear when stepping on our RV’s steps. Well, maybe we didn’t exactly hear it, but the entire trailer bounced whenever anyone used our entry steps. It certainly felt like Boing! Boiiing! The flimsy two steps had way too much “give” in them, even if a child used the steps! Learn about this stabilizing product here.

Quick tip
RV water heaters 101

If you’re new to using electronic ignition water heaters, it’s easy. With the switch ON, the light may blink, possibly turn on. When the light turns off, the heater is lit. Now the thermostat is in control, and the heater will light whenever there’s a demand for the flame to heat the water. If the light stays on, or comes back on for longer than a few seconds, the heater did not light. Flip the switch off and try again. If it repeatedly fails to light, check to make sure your gas valve is open at the propane cylinder. Still not working? Leave the switch off and contact an RV technician.

Trivia

Cooked fish and other seafood can be safely stored in the refrigerator 3 to 4 days. Refrigeration slows but does not prevent bacterial growth. Therefore, it’s important to use food within the recommended time before it spoils or becomes dangerous to consume. —USDA

“This is Walker (Aussiedoodle), age 5. This dog is the true meaning of a lap dog. He rarely wants to go outside. He just wants to sit in my wife’s lap.” —Randy Kelsey

Taken some of those scenic train rides and loved them all, but our favorite wasn’t listed. You have to try Durango to Silverton. Breathtaking beauty.

I did that awesome. Just wish we took the bus back. We ended up either bored or fell asleep.

It pays to shop around. The Microwave egg maker shown today is about 1/3rd the price from Walmart. I know Tariffs and Amazon have raised prices lately. Maybe RVT could work a deal with Wally, like Amazon?! IMHO!

Water heater quick tip: Your water heater may have a thermal fuse. While electric, the fuse is ‘popped’ by heat rather than current. And it might be a ‘one and done’ fuse like an automotive fuse rather than a resettable breaker. Check your manual.

Ours popped outside Big Bend National Park a couple years back. Actual outdoor temp was 109F, and the heater’s black cover was in the direct sun. Almost immediately after turning on the water heater, that little added heat was too much. There was nothing wrong with the heater. Luckily an RV tech was able to custom make a replacement. For the little bit they cost, minimal size and weight. I now carry spares.

Had one of those pop on my first Winnebago Journey in 2004 while attending the Calgary Stampede. Had a little problem finding one up there, so carrying a spare isn’t a bad idea.

When you unplug the fuse you can just plug the two wire end together until you get another one.

I liked the quote by Ben Franklin about supressing, or lying and purposely misleading, the truth as the start of taking down freedom. That our mainstream media is so quick to mislead the truth that now inspires a young man to take anothers life is proof of this. Freedom of speech was never intended to include lying. So those sources and politicians who engage in this slander are exactly the source old Ben Franklin warned us about.

I’m really glad I live in an area where fresh lobster – and other seafood – is readily available. The prices on that Amazon lobster are frightening!

Ben Franklin would have been appalled at the notion of “Fact Checkers” or the unattainable claim of being a “NonPartisan Organization”, knowing each are an impossibility of the human condition, now or then, … or ever. The UK and Canada are now arresting and indeed, they are locking people up over speech infractions. Liberty is not granted to you by your government, which changes, it is not a choice on a ballot, it is a birthright and it is absolute.

Worked for a large national bakery and it’s called a “retarder” for a reason. It does not “stop” the process of degradation; it only “retards” the process till it has to be disposed of. If it is out of code or or doesn’t look or smell right- throw it out. RV or at home the same rules apply.
