Forest River recalls 2025–2026 RV models for fire hazard

If you plug your rig into shore power and you still have no juice, it could be an indicator your trailer is on recall. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Spirit and Shasta Oasis recreational trailers. The 30-amp or 50-amp inlet wire sheathing may be inconsistently stripped, causing electrical arcing. Electrical arcing increases the risk of a fire. This Forest River fire risk recall affects 502 RVs.

Dealers will correct the 30-amp and 50-amp inlet wiring as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 22, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-0856. Forest River’s number for this recall is 53-1974.

Background

On September 4, 2025, a routine inspection at the manufacturing plant found that the wire sheathing for the 30-amp or 50-amp power inlet may not have been stripped evenly. Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance was notified on September 8, and an investigation was opened into the issue. By September 12, Forest River’s Corporate Committee decided a recall was necessary, and a Stop Sale Notice was issued.

The company warns that one tip-off that a rig is affected is that if it is plugged into shore power, current might not flow into the RV.

Evidently a new hire was responsible for the unevenness of the wire stripping. Forest River determined production date recalls based on the hiring date of the new person.

Maybe train or hire a real electrician?

No real codes either. The RVIA ensures that safety is secondary to profit margin in the RV industry…and we all pay for the privilege of the RVIA’s existence. 🥴

Much as I would like to get a little larger trailer, reading over and over about the shoddy workmanship that keeps showing up makes me think just put up with my current one; which still has had a lot of ongoing odds and ends done to fix things done half a$$ at the factory. At least it’s stayed off the FR recall list so far. Why these companies don’t hire some quality leaders out of the auto or other industries is beyond me. They’ll save money in the long run. Maybe a major class action that costs them billions will wake them up

Thank you for tbe news, Russ and Tina! Hmm, … seems that Forest River has hit upon a creative way to extend its recall streak; inadequately train new employees. Still, congratulations to Forest River’s internal quality-control process for discovering the problem. I will guess that the long delay between the discovery and mailing recall notices is for lawyers to scrutinize the letter to protect Forest River to the greatest extent possible. Have a great weekend and safe travels!
