‘New’ storage tips, tricks, and hacks for RVing

RVs are infamous for their lack of storage. So, it’s a good thing that RVers are masters at storage tips, tricks, and hacks for RVing. Here are a few RV storage tips and ideas that are new to me and perhaps will help you with your RV storage challenges, too.

Linens

I looked and looked for a place to store our second set of RV bed linens. Then I discovered an obvious solution: store the sheets and pillowcases between the bed mattress and the bed platform. I fold the linens as flat as possible and tuck them out of sight at the foot of the bed. When I change our bed linens, I retrieve the clean sheets and pillowcases from under the mattress.

Tank tops and camisoles

Hook shower curtain rings to the bottom of a clothes hanger. Slip tank tops and camisole straps onto the rings and put the hanger in your RV closet.

Jeans and more

Use S hooks like these to store your jeans or shorts. Just hook the belt loop to an S hook and place the S hook over your RV’s closet rod.

Jewelry

These screw-together plastic containers are great for jewelry. I use them for earrings and rings and love how I can see what’s inside each container. I connect all of the containers and store them in the bedroom dresser with clothes.

Nightstand

Many of the RVs we’ve owned have not had nightstands. To solve this problem, simply install a picture ledge on the wall next to your bed. The ledge is small and narrow, so it won’t take up much space. At the same time, the ledge is large enough to hold a cell phone, small alarm clock, reading glasses, clip-on light, etc.

Hoodie hangers

How many hoodies are in your RV right now? Hooded sweatshirts are a camper’s go-to for chilly mornings and late evenings. Storing hoodies can be difficult because of their bulk. I just discovered these hoodie hangers and freed up shelf space in our RV’s closet. Best of all, the hoodie hangers are easy to use and work well!

Blankets and more

Who doesn’t like a product that does double duty? This soft-sided storage cube easily holds extra blankets, pillows, RV sofa throws, and even kitchen linens! You’ll have easy access to your stored items just by unzipping the cube closure. Bonus! A filled cube acts as a comfy footrest!

Pillow storage

Along the same line as the storage cubes above, this storage pillow, which I just saw for the first time in yesterday’s Great RV Accessories newsletter (thanks, Cheri!) is brilliant for storage, too! Simply stuff the “pillow” with things like blankets, other pillows, holiday bedding, or even winter clothing (think heavy sweaters, jackets, and more) and use it as a decorative pillow on your RV bed or couch.

Canopy organizer

Once settled into your favorite camp chair, it’s time to relax. With this canopy organizer, you can have all of your essentials right at your fingertips.

Tool storage

Stop digging through your tool bin or bucket searching for that wrench. Mount the tools you use most onto the inside of your RV’s basement door, like this idea seen on Pinterest. Vertically mount a broom holder to contain hand tools, a flashlight, grill lighter, and more. You’ll easily locate the tools you need with this storage tip because they are in plain sight.
