On Monday afternoon, July 8, high winds in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, picked up RVs and tossed them around, hurling some into trees in a Sabine County Texas RV park. Park guests and employees at Holly Park Marina crowded into the park office to shelter ahead of the oncoming storm. Witnesses said the tornado blasted toward the site, “wrapped in water, making it nearly impossible to see,” according to local fire department reports.
Tornado hangs RVs in trees

“Numerous RVs were tossed around, turned over, and hanging in trees. There were downed power lines, and a very strong smell of propane covered the area,” Shamrock Shores Volunteer Fire Department noted.
Utility line workers showed up and turned off the juice. After that, fire crews “went from RV to RV turning off all propane tanks and removing any damaged tanks from the area.”
Destruction with a gentle touch

While the possible tornado forcefully hung RVs in trees, it handled some things with a gentle touch.
The tornado gently set down a rather long RV slideout, which housed both the galley and entertainment center. For all appearances, it could have been a display set up for an RV show.
After Hurricane Beryl made landfall, authorities issued 67 tornado warnings. Happily, this one, while messing up a lot of rigs, did not injure anyone.

Wow! Lucky folks had an advance warning and paid attention to it! Glad everyone survived this one – about the worst I’ve seen – especially in the dense woods.
Wow indeed! Results could have been so much worse without the early warning.
Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 Wow! What a night the staff and visitors had !?!?! I do hope everyone had insurance. Even the RVs not hung in trees or disassembled may have sustained damage. I am thankful no one was hurt. Thanks for the news and the reminder of how tenuous a shelter an RV really is. 🤔😯 Have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
