We know nothing for sure about these two photos except that they make no sense to us. A reader who sent us this image of both vehicles together also believed it was one crazy setup.
What would cause someone to tow a fifth wheel trailer this way, and then camp with it in the same position?
The fact that someone was able to photograph the fifth wheel and truck while they were moving down the road and then again in the campground suggests it was the RVer himself or herself who posted the two photos. Or maybe someone followed the RV all the way to the campground, but that seems highly unlikely.
Maybe the RV is still in the setting-up stage at the campground and would soon be level after the truck pulled away. That’s about the only explanation we can come up with. But, honestly, we don’t have a lot of confidence about that.
What do you think? Please help us understand.

The truck has been “lifted”, and is a lot higher than a stock truck. A 5th wheel setup must maintain at least 6″ between the sides of the bed and tailgate, and the underside of the camper overhang. Otherwise there will be damage to truck, camper, or both. So, the hitch can’t be adjusted lower and that makes the camper “nose high”. It is extremely dangerous and irresponsible to tow like this on public roads.
Someone who jacks up a truck that high has no concern of the danger they are putting others on the road.
I think that it is pure conjecture that the offending party also “camped” while in that position. It looks to me like they were in the process of unhooking when the second picture was taken.

I hope that this isn’t a real picture. Driving down the road, a small bump would rip out his back jacks and smash the back of the truck. The clearance there is just too small to drive at all.
The same mental illness that causes someone to jack up their truck like that will cause other manifestations of the illness, such as connecting a trailer like that.

There’s a giant ‘leveling block’ under the front jack, so I think they’re done setting up.
That is a dangerous setup and the DOT officer should pull him over and site him. I drove Tracktor trailers for over 22 years and that would never stand. Hell, I called up a local DOT officer on the CB once to turn in a truck and trailer that was overloaded and dangerous. The truck was overloaded and sagging badly. He thanked me and rightfully pulled him over.
This guy has more $$$ than Brains. You would not believe the cost to put a lift kit like that on that dually. Dumb!!!
Possibly – they want to change the 5th wheel’s tires?
The truck should have decals on the doors that say “Yes, I’m this stupid!”
I don’t understand the whole lift kit thing – it doesn’t buy more road clearance, since the axles are the same, along with the differentials. And it certainly isn’t safe to tow a 5th wheel like this. The trailer’s rear bumper will hit the ground on almost any driveway/crossing/etc.

Looks to me that this toy hauler lost its back door ramp, and this is the only way to get the 4-wheeler in and out. Redneck ingenuity. As to sleeping I would guess it is an air-mattress bed filled with helium. ya just gotta think like a redneck to understand these things.
